0 (2m 20s):

I mean, Lightning Have, you heard, welcome

1 (2m 22s):

To Barnes and no,

3 (2m 25s):

No I haven’t. What you got Holmes

0 (2m 27s):

In my driveway as you read. This will be a 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor.

3 (2m 33s):

Wait, excuse me. What? Say that again Slower

0 (2m 35s):

And then I’ll have it for 10 days.

3 (2m 38s):

Wait a minute. In fact,

0 (2m 39s):

By the time we get back from the airport, from our trip to visit our friends at AMS oil, yeah, we’re already back. I’ll be in my driveway

3 (2m 45s):

Back. We’re back now. Get back, yes. Yeah.

0 (2m 48s):

And then I’m gonna be driving it

3 (2m 49s):

A Bronco Raptor

0 (2m 50s):

To Colorado and Utah and wheeling it and then driving it home.

3 (2m 54s):

So it. The whole 10 days you’re gonna have it. It will be nowhere near Lightning.

0 (2m 58s):

Nowhere near Lightning at all. That not

3 (3m 1s):

Is not cool. Even close, even A. little bit Cool. None of that’s cool.

0 (3m 5s):

Well, what is cool is that if you live outside of California for $825, so Ford performance goes, Hey,

3 (3m 14s):

They say it like that. Don don’t know.

0 (3m 15s):

Hey, probably they said, Hey listen, we understand that you guys like performance. And my guess is that somebody somewhere was like, Hey, this should be the tune of the the Raptor, but we couldn’t make it past 50 state emissions. So for those of you in 49 states, if you wanna go to your dealer, we’ll let you upgrade. Oh, it’ll have a three year, 36,000 mile warranty and it passed all of our internal durability tests. So you’re good to go. So for 825 bucks you can unlock 50 horsepower and 106 pound feet of torque from the Ranger Raptor that brings it to a healthy 455 horse and 536 pound feet of torque. Yeah, buddy. You also get a sharper throttle response, improved gear selection because the automatic transmission has been tuned to enable a more powerful driving

3 (4m 2s):

Experience.

0 (4m 3s):

Dang. Alright. And now going to the, I think it’s the 22 to 24 Bronco Raptor. You can also get it now they have A, little bit different horsepower and torque output. So this one goes additional 37 horsepower and 96 pound feet of torque. That brings it to 4 55, 5 36 also same price. Same price. So the two Bronco Raptors, the Ranger and the Bronco now have the same output. If you go with the forward performance tune, flash, whatever. I love that these, rather than being different vehicles, I

3 (4m 31s):

Love that these new vehicles are like, they’re like apps on your iPhone and your Android where they just like kind of the gift that keeps giving. Like, oh, we’ve updated it and for this you can for a couple more bucks, we give you more power Or more dude

0 (4m 43s):

For 8 25 for a factory authorized tune, 536 pound feet torque in a mid-size truck. Yeah. Like why wouldn’t you?

3 (4m 51s):

You would, you should.

0 (4m 52s):

Like I, here’s the thing, everybody keeps asking me the same question. They’re like, I’m looking at mid-sized trucks. I want like one of the high performance ones. So I’m gonna look at a Ford Ranger Raptor or I’m looking at a bison ZR two and I’m like, I wish you could put the Ford powertrain in the Chevy. ’cause the Chevy’s really good, but they don’t change the gearing from like a 3 42 even with the 35 inch tires and there’s turbo lag and it’s a dog relatively speaking where the range of raptor’s like let’s go. Okay. On 30 threes though. And I’m like, ah, I wish, I wish there was a turbo V six option or something more for the Colorado. ’cause that’s such a great truck.

0 (5m 34s):

I don’t know.

3 (5m 35s):

Not no, I mean you’re not gonna get your wish.

0 (5m 37s):

I just, it’s one of those things like I don’t,

3 (5m 39s):

Here you have four, they just keep giving. They’re like, well that’s the thing. And that’s great is they found a profit center too. Like if we, I mean they can a thousand dollars roundup and say it’s a thousand bucks, it’s eight something, but like four

0 (5m 48s):

Or 5,000 vehicles, let’s say

3 (5m 49s):

Plus tax, whatever. Yeah. And it’s like they’re making some money. The the owner’s gonna

0 (5m 53s):

Flaunt that. They’re gonna be happy. Yeah. So would you rather have a slower poker, your bigger tire truck or a faster smaller tire truck?

3 (6m 3s):

Run that by me again.

0 (6m 4s):

Would you rather have a bigger tire truck that’s pier and porker and slower? Yeah. Or would you rather have a smaller tire truck that is like way more power than you need? It depends

3 (6m 14s):

What you want to use it for.

0 (6m 17s):

I know Don don’t

3 (6m 18s):

Know because I’ve had both And, we

0 (6m 19s):

Know

3 (6m 19s):

That the, I enjoy both And.

0 (6m 21s):

We know that the Raptor won some races too. Yeah. But I guess so did the E ZR two. I don’t know. Hmm. I’m a toss up. I really like both trucks. I also like our, you know, Nissan. So if,

3 (6m 31s):

If, if you

0 (6m 31s):

And I like all three of ’em better than the Tacoma, but if you

3 (6m 33s):

Had the money and you had to spend it today or the money goes away, which one are you buying? I don’t know. You have to Don. Don’t know. No, no. You don’t understand it. Yeah, you

0 (6m 41s):

Have to. So here’s the other interesting thing is

3 (6m 43s):

You’ll make a choice.

0 (6m 43s):

The Toyota trail hunters are supposed to be coming out. Yeah. They have those A RB shocks on ’em that are on the, the trail hunter, big bodied aluminum. J-C-O-R-C-O, full technology. I think that truck has better shocks than the foxes on the TRD Pro. They’re old man emu. No, they’re not.

3 (7m 6s):

Oh, they’re Bill Stein. Bill Stein

0 (7m 7s):

Aren. Mm. And Bill Stein can’t tell that story, but Truck Show Podcast can. Right. We may do a deep dive at some point on the Bill Steins that are, I mean, the old man emus that are on the trail hunter and tell you why those shocks are so freaking awesome.

3 (7m 21s):

Interesting.

0 (7m 21s):

That’s, that might be one of the best factory shocks that you can get on any

3 (7m 24s):

Truck. Can we, so someone from Bill Stein will not come on the show to talk about it unless we change their voice. They,

0 (7m 32s):

Let’s just say they can’t say things that we can say.

3 (7m 35s):

Okay. So you’ll, so Sean Holman will be doing the deep dive.

0 (7m 39s):

So

3 (7m 39s):

You’re gonna get on the scuba tank and go, go take us all the way to the bottom.

0 (7m 42s):

I’m just saying that they’re, the stickers on the shock are not the shock. All Bill Stein technology in there.

3 (7m 48s):

No smoke and mirrors.

0 (7m 49s):

I mean, it’s all marketing. It’s kind of sad.

3 (7m 51s):

No, it’s not. You’d think

0 (7m 52s):

That there’d be some like sticker like made by Bill Stein. Oh, I see what you’re saying. But there’s nothing. It’s old man emu, which it’s not. So anyway, just a little interesting side story. Hey, Lighting, Have, You Heard.

3 (8m 4s):

No, no negative.

0 (8m 6s):

So have you seen those ridiculous AI photos of the Caterpillar truck?

3 (8m 14s):

Yes.

0 (8m 14s):

Oh my God. They’re yellow and they’re horrible. And it’s like, like it has a cat logo on the grill and then the hood says tap because they, they can’t do spelling AI

3 (8m 24s):

Says, boy, there are a lot of people think it’s real, just like the way the thing the TXs do wheelies,

0 (8m 28s):

Dude, it’s, it’s, yeah, on the video game thing. Yeah. Like, yo dude, did you see this video where it hopped off the, the freeway to the lower freeway many

3 (8m 34s):

Times. I’m like, stop it. I’ve had everyone I know is like, so I can’t, could your TRX really do that? I’m like, dude, do you understand? That’s GTA, right?

0 (8m 40s):

Yeah. It’s just not even, it’s Grand

3 (8m 41s):

Theft auto Don.

0 (8m 42s):

Don’t know if this was a hoax or was the ai or somebody thought it was funny. I’ve literally had neighbors stop me in my driveway who know what I do and go, so, hey, what do you know about that Caterpillar truck?

3 (8m 51s):

You’re like, it’s ai.

0 (8m 53s):

And I’m like, yeah, it’s not real. I’ve had people DM me, I’ve had emails, guys, caterpillar’s not building a truck. Like they’re not building a mid-size or full-size pickup truck. It’s not happening. Tell your friends

3 (9m 4s):

And, and if they stop the spread, if they did, would people buy it?

0 (9m 9s):

I mean, they might,

3 (9m 10s):

Some would.

0 (9m 11s):

I mean, Don don’t know, but it’s, that’s, I’m tired of

3 (9m 15s):

Hearing about it. Guess what base is this? The type of thing that’s gone so viral that that GM, Ford or Ram would actually private label a truck to, to Caterpillar or just badge it with

0 (9m 26s):

No, they’re saying that it would be a Caterpillar truck with Caterpillar engine or, oh, it’s, it’s not. So just, it’s a, it’s a tell your, tell your uncle and your grandpa and all the people that are asking you, it’s

3 (9m 36s):

Not real. No, but I mean this could be like the public could Wheel this into reality.

0 (9m 40s):

No, they cannot. No. Caterpillar does not have a manufacturing line

3 (9m 44s):

For a small No, no. Again, I know that, but like four GM ram. Cool. Oh

0 (9m 47s):

Yeah. Because all three of those are gonna take up their own capacity to make a white label truck for a competitor.

3 (9m 53s):

True. Move on. You’re right. You’re

0 (9m 55s):

Absolutely right. Hey, Lighting Have, you heard?

3 (9m 57s):

No. No. Oh no. What?

0 (10m 2s):

Just another Ford recall.

3 (10m 3s):

Oh no. 9 9 9 9 9.

0 (10m 6s):

Well, funny you played that one because that’s actually the sound the valves are making inside of the, oh no. One of the 90,736 vehicles with intake valve issues that might break. And so that impacts 21 to 22 Bronco, F-150 Edge Explorer, Nautilus Aviator, any of the vehicles equipped with either a 2.7 or three liter nano eco boost engine. So the thing is like, hey, here’s a tune for 825 bucks and also here’s an intake valve package. Like you just do ’em at the same time, right? Yes. You’re like, I would be, I would tell Ford if you’re replacing my engine, just goodwill me that tune while, while it’s in the shop.

3 (10m 42s):

They might All right. Some might be happy if I were dealer. Yeah, that’s what I’m saying guys. What’s the profit on that too? Ask. It’s just ones and zeros. It’s just an upload.

0 (10m 51s):

Yeah, you gotta do it anyway. Just saying. Alright, Lightning, Have, you heard,

3 (10m 60s):

Oh, that’s the warranty department by the way. Oh, is that what

0 (11m 2s):

That was? We had previously talked about how Ford had postponed the electric three row SUV, I guess it’s officially dead now. And so there’s a few Ford EV and hybrid vehicle announcements that came out in the past week. And it says that it’s delaying production for the next generation electric pickup on the T three. So that would be the Lightning successor that would be built on a dedicated EV platform instead of a modified F-150 platform. So that’s pushed back apparently around a year and a half. So late 27, something like that. Early 28. We did talk about, I think in the last episode, the mid-size truck that was under development that also looks like 2027. But instead of that three row electric SUV Ford says it’s now turning its attention to hybrids for future three row.

3 (11m 46s):

Well, isn’t that fancy? Yeah. Interesting how they’ve all come around. Like you and I were sitting here a year ago and you were saying hybrid’s the answer hybrid is the answer. And, and, and a lot of the guests that were coming on the show were like, hybrid is the answer. It’s the bridge. Right. And look at that. Lo and behold, they’re focusing on hybrids.

0 (12m 6s):

Well, they’re going back to it. So according to this article, it said that Forbes committed to updating involving its current. So that’s the Mustang Mach e the Ford F-150 Lightning, and then a commercial van that they’ve been planning for 26. And Ford also said that the Tennessee production facility that was originally meant to begin some vehicle assemblies that now it only plans to do battery cell production there for 2025 So. it sounds like they built a big building and now interesting.

3 (12m 34s):

Oh, listen carefully to the tree huggers.

0 (12m 39s):

So what’s interesting is it says, Ford says they’ll take a special non-cash charge of about 400 million for the write down of certain product specific manufacturing assets that were planned for the all electric three row SUV. And then it says additional actions could result in expenses of up to 1.5 billion before it says it’ll reduce expenditures on EVs from 40% to 30%. And they hope that those moves will make it profitable in the future. So Yeah. Oof. That is, that’s tough, man. That’s tough. Hey, Lighting, Have, you heard?

6 (13m 16s):

No, and I don’t care.

0 (13m 19s):

Oh, in that case we should just end the show.

3 (13m 21s):

No, no, no. I, I, I, I Please gimme another

0 (13m 24s):

All. right. One last Ford piece for you that is going to make everybody just freaking freak out

3 (13m 31s):

Another Ford piece.

0 (13m 32s):

This is a patent. Oh, you know how you love patent?

3 (13m 35s):

Yeah, I do. Tell me about some patent action. Well, Ford

0 (13m 38s):

Has filed for a new patent that shows a system that uses your destination route, speed, travel, history, location, traffic and more to determine the type of ads to show you in your car.

5 (13m 50s):

Oh, no.

0 (13m 51s):

And how many to

3 (13m 52s):

Display? Oh, no. On

0 (13m 53s):

The various streets.

5 (13m 54s):

No, no, no, no, no, no. If that

0 (14m 1s):

Doesn’t kill new car sales.

3 (14m 2s):

No, no,

5 (14m 3s):

No. Welcome to ball. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Oh, hell no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

0 (14m 17s):

Is that Ford laughing at you? Oh, we can all we can all hope this one stays a patent.

5 (14m 28s):

Oh no.

0 (14m 31s):

And, and unlike Ford, this show doesn’t have more than four ads.

3 (14m 36s):
