Sean P. Holman (2m 17s):
Lighting Have You Heard.
4 (2m 19s):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Hell no. No, no, no,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (2m 31s):
No. I have not.
Sean P. Holman (2m 32s):
You know, one of those vehicles that I’ve always wanted that I could never have.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (2m 36s):
Mm, I don’t know what that would be.
Sean P. Holman (2m 39s):
There’s a handful, like a Ram SRT 10 would be on that list, like the vehicles that pass us by. Another one would be a 92 GMC Typhoon. And just so turns out that our friends over at Hot Wheels oh, are launching a one 64th scale model that has a Spectra flame, true black paint Job five spoke real rider wheels, a full metal chassis, light smoke tinted windows, and a cool gray interior colorway. And the hood even pops open to reveal the Turbocharged V six that’s hiding underneath. Sounds like Mattel’s gonna implement a limit of two purchases per customer. And they note that the items and dates are subject to change at any time.
Sean P. Holman (3m 20s):
And that even though it may be in your shopping cart, it may not be available for purchase.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 24s):
So, oh, interesting. So it’s gonna be super limited edition.
Sean P. Holman (3m 27s):
It’s super limited. It’s kind of funny ’cause
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 30s):
It feels like a supreme drop, you know, like on Thursday we’re like, I gotta have that shirt with this colorway. And it’s, you get it your shopping cart and then it’s like gone. You can’t actually check out.
Sean P. Holman (3m 39s):
And just so any of You know what a typhoon is. And it’s funny ’cause the license plate is P Hoon on the back.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 45s):
Peon.
Sean P. Holman (3m 46s):
Phon.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 47s):
I don’t know
Sean P. Holman (3m 48s):
Typhoon. It’s phon. Oh yeah. This is Phon, not Poon. It’s phon. Those of us who grew up in that era, it was a badass. It had like a 500 pound payload, which means that Lightning and I technically could not be inside of it with clothes on and full tummies from wiener schnitzel or in and out.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 3s):
That’s not, that’s not true. I don’t know what you weigh, but it could be both of us.
Sean P. Holman (4m 6s):
It would be barely both of us. Yeah. We’d have to take off our jackets. I
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 9s):
Don’t wear two 50.
Sean P. Holman (4m 10s):
You do have it out.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 12s):
No, I don’t. I’m telling you. I see
Sean P. Holman (4m 14s):
You double. Double. Anyway, the 4.3 liter V six, which was the LB four gas engine, had a Mitsubishi turbo on it and Intercooler strapped on it. It had all sorts of stuff done to it. Special pistons, main caps, head gaskets, intake manifolds, fuel system exhaust manifold. It made 280 horsepower and 360 pound feet of torque, which was a monstrous amount of power for its day. It had all Wheel drive and there’s the cyclone pickup truck, which was the pickup equivalent. Both were freaking awesome back then. They hit zero to 60 in 5.3 seconds and ran the quarter in 14.1 at 95. So like, that doesn’t sound crazy fast today, but back then it was basically for
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 53s):
A pickup
Sean P. Holman (4m 53s):
Truck. Super. Well this was the, yeah, this was the SUV but Right. It was basically the, it was 300 ZX territory and Chevy Corvettes and it was a, a crappy SUV ’cause they were not built well at all. And
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 7s):
The interior would fall apart as your,
Sean P. Holman (5m 9s):
As you’re accelerating. Yeah. It would creek and stuff. They’re special. They’re rad. I still, I still, 10 outta 10 would grab one even if I realized how janky and rough running they were.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 21s):
You and I didn’t we see like one of that era at a like Oh we were ATM I. Oh yeah. And, and it was one of the guys said like one of the trucks of that era and it was just all the plastic was falling apart,
Sean P. Holman (5m 31s):
No cracking and stuff like that. Yeah. Yeah. So if you’re looking for one, head on over to creations.mattel dot com and you can pick up your own 92 GMC pho.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 38s):
Oh, you can try, but you might not get one.
Sean P. Holman (5m 41s):
Hey, Lighting, Have You Heard. No.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 43s):
Hm. No negative. So
Sean P. Holman (5m 44s):
According to internet reports, Ford has brought out a Maverick based small van to replace the transit connect at a secret dealer’s meeting. Really? Which makes a lot of
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 58s):
Sense. I love the Transit Connect. Well, anyone was bummed when it went away. I
Sean P. Holman (6m 1s):
Think you’d love it even more if it was based on the, the chassis that is shared with the Bronco Sport, the escape and the, the Maverick seems like a no brainer to me. Why wouldn’t you have that? Especially ’cause you’ve got two, at least two different Wheel base lengths. I’m sure you would have a tall roof. And I think a lot of people miss having that little van. And I think that vehicle’s probably better than the Transit Connect, which was originally built in Turkey had to be disassembled to be brought over here and reassembled because of the chicken tax. And then I think the last generation was built in Spain. The Maverick is built in Herma Seal Mexico. And so, so
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 34s):
They’re gonna have to take it apart in Mexico and then bring it over here and park
Sean P. Holman (6m 37s):
Assemble. They’re, they’re good to go. I think when you, when you build ’em in Mexico. So do you think a a Ford compact van would catch on? I do.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 45s):
A hundred percent. Absolutely. Well, think
Sean P. Holman (6m 46s):
About this. The Transit Connect didn’t have an all Wheel drive chassis component that I know about. Obviously this does. So two things come to mind. If Ford did a compact van, they could be do one with a trail package on it for the van lifers. Mm. So now you have an off-road small van to go up. That’s
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 2s):
Really small though.
Sean P. Holman (7m 4s):
No, not if you had a high roof, you could stand up in it. Well,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 6s):
You, you one person no
Sean P. Holman (7m 7s):
Fine. Two
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 8s):
People stacked on each other. Who cares? Bunk beds.
Sean P. Holman (7m 11s):
My point is, you can have an all Wheel drive small van that could go off-roading. Yeah. ’cause there’s already an off-road package for everything else. And on the chassis, the other thing that comes to mind is all Wheel drive capability for snowy and, and you know, inclement climates and things like that. So to me it sounds like that would be the way you go. And it’s a hybrid. You get it with either the, the two liter eco boosts or the 2.5 liter hybrid powertrain. So it sounds like there’d be a lot of flexibility and I’m pretty sure Ford would bring that out if given a positive response from dealers. And I’m guessing that that was a hell yes.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 42s):
Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (7m 44s):
Hey Lighting, did you hear? No,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 46s):
No, I don’t think so. So
Sean P. Holman (7m 47s):
Apparently a Tesla semi flew off the highway, interstate 80 in California. Oh,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 55s):
Oh, I did hear about this one. Burst into flames. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (7m 57s):
Through the Sierra Nevada mountains. And it basically was because of the remoteness, the firefighters couldn’t fight it. They didn’t have the resources they needed, so they just let it burn down. So I wonder what the failure was. It doesn’t say, it didn’t say if anybody was injured in it, just that the smoke was toxic and the firefighters had to wear their apparatus complete with the breathing tanks and all that kind stuff. Is it something that has, obviously electric vehicles have regen. They don’t have a Jake brake or anything. Did something failed? Did the driver fall asleep? We think with all the technology, maybe that wouldn’t be possible. Weird.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 34s):
But the, who
Sean P. Holman (8m 35s):
Knows. The thing is that massive battery I mean it has to be several times the size of a, a standard Tesla battery.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 40s):
I mean, and, and the poor firefighters are gonna have to go through all sorts of new training. And the bummers, they don’t know. Did you see that one where the guys rolled up on the car and they didn’t know that it was either hydrogen or, or CNG? They were trying to put out the fire in it and it exploded.
Sean P. Holman (8m 53s):
Oh, I didn’t see that one.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 54s):
Yeah. Oh my, it was like a fricking bomb, like a dude. It was a big bomb. Put a bunch of the firefighters in, in the hospital. It was crazy because there was no markings on the vehicle. They didn’t know. Yeah. That’s, that’s no good. And So, this is, there’s, there’s, I I think we’re gonna see more of this. I hope we don’t. I I truly, I hope we don’t, but I, I think we’re gonna see more cars on fire where the firefighters roll up and they don’t know what’s electric right away. I, I don’t know how they’re gonna tell on some of these vehicles. The charging ports aren’t like immediately obvious in some of these, you know, ’cause could it be a charging port? Could it be with a gas door if I’m a firefighter? Like you might like, you know, like take a pause before you roll right up to the car.
Sean P. Holman (9m 37s):
Hey Lighting, Have You Heard
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 39s):
I mean no, no.
Sean P. Holman (9m 42s):
Remember how we keep saying, hey, it’s the end of the V eight and last chance and all that. And we reported that Jeep said, well maybe for 2025 we’ll do another 3 92. Final, final, final edition. Apparently the Durango Hellcat silver bullet is going to be the final final final. The final Hellcat product.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 0s):
Yes. Maybe final
Sean P. Holman (10m 1s):
Right. It’s gonna get the special edition and it’s going to cost you a lot of money. So like
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 6s):
How much
Sean P. Holman (10m 7s):
Hellcat ain’t dead yet. The Durango Hellcat silver bullet is a shade of silver called triple nickel.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 16s):
Of course
Sean P. Holman (10m 16s):
It is. Which is a little bit funny. Yeah. The hood will be sat in black and then it gets black exhaust tips and gray metallic badging 20 inch wheels. And you get what’s called a paint color called lights out, which is a very dark shade of gray. And then they’ve got six piston brembo breaks with red calipers. The inside gets ebony red Napa leather seats. Oh, that’s cool. Embroidered seatbacks with the Hellcat logo, carbon fiber trim, suede for the steering Wheel and the headliner. So, you know, super classed up. And then it’s mechanically unchanged from the standard one. So that means 710 horsepower, all Wheel drive, eight speed, automatic seven drive modes, launch control, all that kinda good stuff.
Sean P. Holman (10m 56s):
Just
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 56s):
A good looking beast.
Sean P. Holman (10m 57s):
I mean it’s awesome. So,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 59s):
And that’s gonna send me back how much, and
Sean P. Holman (11m 0s):
You can also get the 2025 Durango RT 20th anniversary edition, which celebrates 20 years of the Durango having a Hemi V eight. That’s also gonna be available. That gets a
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 11s):
Metal cost. How much
Sean P. Holman (11m 13s):
Specific badging A hood graphic. 20 inch Fords wheels A Togo package. Brembos active exhaust 8,700 pound tow rating. I’m
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 20s):
Gonna cut a check For how many? Zero. Oh for
Sean P. Holman (11m 22s):
Which one?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 23s):
The first one. The, the, the final, final, final final edition with black and and red interior. The
Sean P. Holman (11m 27s):
Durango RT 20th anniversary edition. 70,470. Too bad. I guess considering however, the Durango Hellcat silver bullet has a starting price, not including destination charge of
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 43s):
85 1 13 3 25.
Sean P. Holman (11m 49s):
You better do another one of those cash register sounds because that sucker’s gonna put you back. Dude, that
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 55s):
Was
Sean P. Holman (11m 56s):
Painful.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 57s):
Yeah, it’s about
Sean P. Holman (11m 58s):
To be. That’s a lot. Hey, Lighting Have, You Heard. What?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 1s):
No, no.
Sean P. Holman (12m 2s):
If you like a big old body on frame SUVs, you might fall in love with the 2025 Lincoln Navigator, which in its mid-cycle action, or the mid-cycle refreshes some call it, it gets second row massaging seats.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 14s):
Who’s
Sean P. Holman (12m 15s):
Buying that thing anyway? And a completely new dash that has end to end screen. So basically,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 21s):
No, seriously, who’s, who’s the customer for this thing?
Sean P. Holman (12m 23s):
Rich people.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 24s):
But like, if you’re rich, you’re buying a GWA or you’re buying a navigator, you’re, you’re not buying a navigator.
Sean P. Holman (12m 30s):
Yeah, there’s a lot of them out there. But you’re, you are. If you’re a livery service,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 35s):
How many livery services
Sean P. Holman (12m 36s):
Are there? I had enough to support the navigator, apparently. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 39s):
This is not something that I don’t know, are you rich? Would you buy one of these truck show podcast at gmail dot com or would you buy a a, a phone? Well,
Sean P. Holman (12m 45s):
Why are you hating when it has a 28 speaker sound system? I’m
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 48s):
Not saying that it’s not cool. I’m saying it’s like if you have that money, you’re not buying a Lincoln,
Sean P. Holman (12m 55s):
Why do you care what people buy?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 57s):
I don’t care what people buy. Clearly
Sean P. Holman (12m 58s):
You do. it has a 440 horsepower, 3.5 liter eco boost V eight.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 2s):
I’m not telling people not to buy it. I’m just saying like, that’s there.
Sean P. Holman (13m 4s):
The screen is 48 inches long. 48 inches of screams. Damn. Whole thing’s a scream. Wow.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 11s):
That’s kind of neat.
Sean P. Holman (13m 12s):
So now you’re like, oh, well 28 speakers. But
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 15s):
I’m not, I’m still, if I have baller money, I’m not buying a Lincoln.
Sean P. Holman (13m 19s):
It’s pretty damn good looking.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 20s):
The only way you’re doing that is if you’re like, you’re an old golfer. You’re like, you’re just the old
Sean P. Holman (13m 25s):
Why old dude? Why an old,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 27s):
An old white dude buys a Lincoln? Does anyone under 40 even know what a Lincoln is? Does anybody
Sean P. Holman (13m 33s):
Under 40 have the money to buy a 150
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 36s):
SUV? V Yes. There’s some dot com. Not anybody. I know. Some oil. How
Sean P. Holman (13m 39s):
Many of those can support a Lincoln Navigator? Lighting
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 43s):
Just saying, dude, I’m
Sean P. Holman (13m 44s):
Just saying back to you. 20 fours from the factory. Right? You figure you’d be all over that. Yeah,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 49s):
I’m, again, I’m not saying that it’s not cool, but like, you don’t even consider a Lincoln if you’ve got baller
Sean P. Holman (13m 55s):
Money, you might, you might consider this one. ’cause it’s 48 inch screen and 28 speakers. Well,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 60s):
I’m, I’m hoping that this turns a new leaf for Lincoln.
Sean P. Holman (14m 5s):
That’s, that’s where you’re going with, that’s it.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 7s):
I mean, I’m just saying that. Let’s see if they attract a new audience. Because otherwise you’re not talking about, it’s like, man, I just sold my app company. I built the Knicks Angry Birds and I made dude $30 million. I need an SUV. That’s pitch. Maybe
Sean P. Holman (14m 19s):
Maybe you don’t wanna be a pretentious LA range Rover prick. Maybe you don’t wanna be a Escalade rapper. Maybe you are just a 40-year-old white guy and you’re like, yeah, Lincoln it brother.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 30s):
Alright.
Sean P. Holman (14m 30s):
Why you gotta hate
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 31s):
Truck Show podcast at gmail dot com? Listen,
Sean P. Holman (14m 35s):
It’s a bargain bl the black label L one 16.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 41s):
Okay.
Sean P. Holman (14m 41s):
What’s the Navi or what’s a Escalade now? Like one 20 or something
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 45s):
Like that. Yeah. Supercharge one is like a buck 50
Sean P. Holman (14m 47s):
Start starts at 85. Two 60. Yeah. I’m, I’m spending other people’s money here. I could never afford that, that, but Right. It’s pretty nice looking. Finally got a grill that’s decent. Yeah. That’s the worst thing about Lincoln is they can’t figure out their nose forever. Now I’m like, yeah. Okay. That’s cool. Hey Lighting, Have, You Heard. I
6 (15m 3s):
Don’t watch the news because I’m a kid.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 6s):
Oh, by the way, you saw that guy. Yeah, he’s a interviewed him. He is like 17 now. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (15m 10s):
And I, I didn’t, I saw the video but I didn’t have a chance to watch. Is it fun?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 14s):
I didn’t care. No, I didn’t care.
Sean P. Holman (15m 16s):
Why don’t you care?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 17s):
No. ’cause he’s old now. I mean
Sean P. Holman (15m 19s):
Funny. You don’t care like where he is now. No, you don’t think that that there’s some K Rock special of where he is now. And they’re like, Hey, where’s Lightning? And he’s like sitting in some dude’s backyard talking about trucks. That’s what he’s, there
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 27s):
Was a kid when we were little, there was a Crest toothpaste commercial and there was a little boy in it and he was doing his like a, he made, you know, brushing his teeth or whatever his name was Doug, apparently Dougie and I worked with him and everyone and his nickname at the radio station was Doug the Crest boy.
Sean P. Holman (15m 45s):
Why wouldn’t you just call him toothpaste?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 47s):
Yeah, he was Doug the Crest Boy. That’s stupid. There was a lot of syllables. Yep. But that’s what you, that’s I mean. He was the Crest
Sean P. Holman (15m 53s):
Boy, I toothpaste. Get over here.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 55s):
He stole CDs out of the music library. We fired him.
Sean P. Holman (15m 60s):
Well, Doug’s a thief apparently. Yeah. Go to hell Doug. It’s
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 4s):
True story, sadly.
Sean P. Holman (16m 6s):
Hey Lighting, I don’t know if I said this or not because you sidetracked me with Doug, but Ha, Have, You Heard.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 11s):
No, no
Sean P. Holman (16m 11s):
Uhuh. No you didn’t. Okay, well that’s good to know. Toyota could convert all of its North American vehicles to hybrids.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 19s):
I I What? What? No, really all of that’s unfortunate. I
Sean P. Holman (16m 22s):
Think people see it coming. I’d rather have hybrids than pure EVs, I think.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 26s):
Yeah. Okay. Yeah, good point.
Sean P. Holman (16m 28s):
So I’m, I’m good with it. Who knows, maybe they will, maybe they won’t. They’ll have to replace all those tundra hybrid engines first. Hey Lightning, did you hear no
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 37s):
New
Sean P. Holman (16m 38s):
Ram is coming out with a new special edition. The 2024. Will
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 43s):
It have a V eight
Sean P. Holman (16m 45s):
Ram 2,500 HD rebel and power wagon And they’re calling it the lunar edition.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 51s):
Well, so it’s gray.
Sean P. Holman (16m 53s):
It’s not exactly gray.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 55s):
What is it then? Cement ish would
Sean P. Holman (16m 57s):
Be ceramic gray. Oh,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 59s):
Ceramic is very, very light. It’s
Sean P. Holman (17m 1s):
A ceramic gray.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 3s):
Okay,
Sean P. Holman (17m 3s):
So now that 2024 is the, the kind of the end of the heavy duty trucks as we know it. ’cause the 2020 fives are coming with a redesign. Rams decided that they’re going to quote unquote celebrate its biggest rigs with earth’s only natural satellite. The moon, like
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 22s):
What? I don’t understand the tie in. Yeah,
Sean P. Holman (17m 24s):
I don’t either. Ceramic gray paint, job lunar vinyl graphics on the lower body and gloss black. 33 inch tires, black tow mirrors, black powdercoated bumpers, black Wheel flares, body colored badging premium LED lights. Power wagon of course gets the 6.4 liter Hemi V eight with 410 horse and 429 pound feet of torque while the rebel heavy duty will get 20 inch wheels. And of course the six seven Cummins will be available as well with 370 horsepower, 850 pound feet of torque. And ooh,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 54s):
What transmission do we know?
Sean P. Holman (17m 56s):
Yeah, the regular transmission. Oh that comes with it. Okay. The only, the Eisen is only in the high output. Yeah, this isn’t the high output.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 3s):
Okay. That’s know if they were gonna upgrade them all. That’s why
Sean P. Holman (18m 5s):
It’s 850 pound feet of torque and not a thousand something. Got it. And then standard quo spring rear suspension, optional air ride. Of course if you get the air ride truck maximum payload jumps up to 3,690 pounds. Okay. Which is pretty, pretty
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 21s):
Healthy. Yeah. Stout. So
Sean P. Holman (18m 22s):
There’s surf blue contrast stitching for the black leather seating surfaces. There’s 12 film accents on the doors. Instrument panel and center console.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 31s):
By all accounts, this looks I mean aesthetically it’s a good looking truck.
Sean P. Holman (18m 35s):
Oh it’s a great looking truck. It’s,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 36s):
That is a very No, it is. I’m looking at your photos now. That’s, that’s, that’s a great looking hd. I
Sean P. Holman (18m 42s):
Think the power wagon wheels look great too. Although it makes me mad ’cause the old Power Wagon, the original power wagon had forged wheels and they changed in the cast a long time ago. I just wish they kept the forged wheels ’cause that was part of Power
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 54s):
Wagon. I don’t remember the design style on the Forge Wheel.
Sean P. Holman (18m 56s):
The five polished five spoke. Okay. Just, just a perfect simple classic Wheel that was forged for strength. Hey, Lighting Have, You Heard.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 6s):
No No haven haven’t. Tesla
Sean P. Holman (19m 8s):
Is keeping its promise and it’s got a range extending option for the Cybertruck. Hmm.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 18s):
By how many miles?
Sean P. Holman (19m 19s):
So here’s the deal. It’s a box that apparently bolted to the bed and it’s capable of adding 120 miles of range to the cyber beast and 130 miles to the all Wheel drive, which raises the potential driving range to just show over the promised 500 to around four 70. Okay. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 38s):
Still pretty good for a truck that big.
Sean P. Holman (19m 39s):
It’s funny ’cause like when you go to the starlink website, which is where I got my mini very little information on anything and they have all these accessories like a cable amount and I’m trying to figure out what I need and it’s all one picture that’s CGI and there’s like no details and just nothing. There’s no reviews, there’s no, it’s just, it’s like a stark as it can be kinda like a Tesla interior. Which is
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 1s):
So weird because you need to know that stuff when you’re making a purchase.
Sean P. Holman (20m 5s):
So Elon responds in a, in a x, I don’t know what you call ’em, an X tweet and says optional pack that fits in about a third of The truck bed. Still room for plenty of cargo meant for very long trips for towing heavy things up mountains is what he says. But it’s like, that’s gotta be a super heavy pack and you’re not gonna be lifting it in and out like you’re putting it in and that’s it. So I don’t really understand that. And there just isn’t a lot of information on the website either. So I, I don’t know. So there’s one image that I could, what
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 36s):
Does it weigh? Where does it go? Right,
Sean P. Holman (20m 38s):
Exactly. So I looked on the website and there’s one photo and it looks like a toolbox that has the same pattern of ribs that the floor of the Cybertruck does. That fits at the bulkhead at the front. It
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 51s):
Takes so like a, like a, like a like a giant toolbox or just a little handheld? No,
Sean P. Holman (20m 55s):
A giant
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 56s):
Box. Let me see that. Oh you’re right. It’s just a, that takes up about half of the bed.
Sean P. Holman (21m 1s):
Nah, it’s a, it’s probably less than half. Just
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 4s):
Close.
Sean P. Holman (21m 5s):
It’s gonna cost $16,000. Whatcha talking about was, so I guess it’s available for pre-order now, but with a $500 deposit and Tesla says, oh you get priority installation. So it can’t be installed at home. Apparently it has to be installed by them. It’ll be available in early 2025. Well
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 22s):
You’re gonna have big cables that need to go through the floorboard
Sean P. Holman (21m 26s):
Or Well, unless, yeah. Well you don’t know what the Cybertruck has. They may have connections right
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 30s):
There for it. Oh, like some I mean I sure ports already for it.
Sean P. Holman (21m 32s):
Sure. It was designed for it.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 34s):
You never know.
Sean P. Holman (21m 36s):
I mean it’s Tesla. They’re not stupid, they’re just obtuse. Which is super irritating when you have to work with them. It’s like I wanna like things about them, but then they make it so difficult ’cause they’re like, Hey imagine stuff anyway. So if you have a Cybertruck and you want that and you’ve got like 16, 16
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 52s):
Grand, 16 grand, you
Sean P. Holman (21m 53s):
Could trade the weight of 16 grand and trade for a battery pack. Hey Lighting, Have, You Heard. No,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (22m 1s):
No.
Sean P. Holman (22m 2s):
Our friends over at Nikola posted smaller than expected losses. Apparently their hydrogen truck has been in quote unquote robust demand.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (22m 11s):
I have seen more and more on the freeways Yeah. Going back and forth. ’cause I’m near the port of Long Beach and they’re, they’re making short jaunts to and from pulling trailers. So
Sean P. Holman (22m 21s):
Apparently they beat Wall Street’s expectations and they said that there was a smaller than expected adjusted loss signaling an uptick in deliveries for their hydrogen trucks and shares of Nikola Rose. 17% in early trading after the news. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (22m 37s):
What I’m hearing though, Holman is that the, to get hydrogen is extremely difficult. Yes. Toyota had invested in infrastructure for the Marai. Yep. But for some reason that didn’t really come to fruition. There aren’t the stations that they had planned. So like if you have hydrogen vehicle, it’s crazy difficult to fill
Sean P. Holman (22m 59s):
Up. It’s, it’s not easy. It’s not like filling up with gas or plugging in a cord. So for those of you who watch stocks, the company reported an adjusted loss per share of $2 and 67 cents smaller than the average analyst estimate of, of around $2 and 85 cents. They recently signed Walmart, Canada as a big customer in June and they’ve already delivered a hydrogen semi-truck. So the company’s cash and equivalent stood at $256.3 million in the quarter compared with 345.6 million in the previous three months. So that doesn’t sound like a lot of cash, like less than a billion dollars for a company that’s in like advanced technology like that. But anyway, always interested to, to see what they’re up to because
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (23m 41s):
Yeah’s got, Trevor Milton’s gotta be rolling over in his grave.
Sean P. Holman (23m 43s):
Oh. He’s like, I think there’s lawsuits going on and stuff, stuff. There’s, it’s ugly. Yeah. Tried to get on the board and it’s hostile takeover. See
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (23m 49s):
I see Grave as if he’s dead, but he’s not. No he’s
Sean P. Holman (23m 51s):
Not. He’s definitely not. Hey Lightning, Have, You Heard.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (23m 54s):
No, no.
Sean P. Holman (23m 57s):
One last fun story. Could Ford’s Bronco Sport get a beefed up off road package? So there’s rumor saying
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (24m 4s):
Would it matter? ’cause it’s still a sport.
Sean P. Holman (24m 7s):
I think so. I mean really talking about it could get a Sasquatch upgrade, which is the name of the cool package on the full-size Bronco. And I think there’s lots of people out there. There’s already people out there lifting their Bronco sports and Mavericks and shoving bigger tires and trying to do more with less. And it’s kind of a nice little alternative to like the Subaru all-wheel drive crowd. And if you could get it closer to a real off roader from a standpoint of like traction and drive trailer, great. But you know, obviously it’s not gonna be able to do Jeep type things or even Bronco type things, but
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (24m 37s):
You can’t get the same crazy articulation. Right. No.
Sean P. Holman (24m 40s):
And ground clearance is never gonna be the same and it’s never gonna be as robust ’cause it’s a uni body, but it’s,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (24m 44s):
It’s a little trail. You know, you can,
Sean P. Holman (24m 46s):
There’s, I’ve, I’ve got one of my family friends, she has one and she has taken it up gnarly trails all over Colorado and Utah and goes camping and she absolutely loves it. They’re, they’re pretty darn good for what they are. So I could, I would get behind a Sasquatch, upgraded Bronco sport. And you know, Ford has kind of teased on their, on their Instagram that on August 26th something big and muddy in the woods has been spotted and it’s the back of a Bronco sport. So I’m excited to see what it is. Okay.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 19s):
I think so my, my, my dad owns one. We should get a review from my father on the little Bronco
Sean P. Holman (25m 23s):
Sport. He owns one what year?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 25s):
Ah, he sat it for about two years.
Sean P. Holman (25m 27s):
Oh, interesting. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 29s):
Huh.
Sean P. Holman (25m 29s):
Well
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 30s):
He color matched everything, so it looks like a little sportier. Okay. But he didn’t get any of the fancy packages.
Sean P. Holman (25m 35s):
It’s just a Unfancy Bronco sport. Yeah,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 37s):
Yeah. Well, yeah. Then he had a rat put on the front clip. Yeah. The guy did an awful job.
Sean P. Holman (25m 42s):
Oh, so he didn’t ask you first who to go to?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 44s):
No, he did. He
Sean P. Holman (25m 45s):
Didn’t go to Brian SoCal? Nope.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 46s):
He did. He asked me and I go, you need to go to me. He goes, I don’t want to drive to Chino
Sean P. Holman (25m 50s):
Then. You should have driven to Chino for your dad. Hey, I’ll take your car for you. I’ll make it happen.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 53s):
It happens all the time. My dad just gets stuff done. He had to have the stereo worked on. He spent way too much. They’re like, oh, it’s an old guy. And they ripped him off. Like it was classic. He went into a car stereo shop to where he
Sean P. Holman (26m 3s):
Lives, but is
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 3s):
He happy? And he No, no. They totally screwed it up and they charged him a fortune.
Sean P. Holman (26m 7s):
No, but is he happy? Does it work? And he’s like, oh, whatever. I have the money
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 10s):
It does now after I fixed it. Oh,
Sean P. Holman (26m 12s):
Interesting. I
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 13s):
Literally had to go down to their house and fix what the car stereo guy botched and charge him. Did $900 to go go back like two. Like, what’d you do? Yeah. I’m the guy just, he just argued with him as Yeah, it was a bad scene. Just totally took advantage of the old people.
Sean P. Holman (26m 26s):
I would’ve just called my credit card company and said, Hey, reverse those charges. Yeah. Dispute. But what’s not in dispute is the fact that this episode is over.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 37s):
