Jay “Lightning” Tilles (0s):

Holman, what would it sound like if Gale Banks drove around with you in your Jeep? 3 92.

Sean P. Holman (6s):

Oh, you mean back when he did that? When I bought it. And then we lost the audio and then we found the audio and then we went, we never played this audio. So now we’re gonna play the audio. That’s an

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14s):

Accurate description of this. Hold

Sean P. Holman (15s):

On. All, right? So this is, this is quiet mode All, right? So this is idle and quiet mode. And it has two solenoids that are vacuum operated. That’s fun mode. Oh my. And then there’s an extra mode off-Road plus dorms in total. Hey California. And when you hit off-Road plus it, it turns on your radio. Yeah. Well it’s because a different screen pops up when you hit off-Road. Plus it turns off traction control, which will turn back on. Yeah, it does. Kind of makes the throttle sensitivity better.

Sean P. Holman (56s):

Yep. It changes the timing and it does quick shifts and then it’s just stupid. So this thing probably weighs 5,800 pounds, 470 horsepower. Not anymore.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1m 10s):

I remember when that actually weighed under 7,000 pounds. Yeah. Whoa.

Sean P. Holman (1m 14s):

170 pound for of torque. Well, from a 6.4, you used to be Muscle car was less than 10 pounds per horsepower. This sounds like 10 pounds per horsepower. Roughly. It, it has 37 inch tires on it. You need some tip end torque. Those are giant flywheels. Yeah. So to speak. You know what? I love the throttle cut. That is awesome. Take our laugh. Oh, you could have been so listening. Listen to the, when it shifts in the, in this mode, it is so bitching how glorious it is.

Sean P. Holman (1m 55s):

They’re saving the transmission with that throttle cut. I love the sound though. Yeah, I do too. Whoa. Not bad for G Speedo saying Turning left.

3 (2m 20s):

Oh yeah.

Sean P. Holman (2m 22s):

Easy. The cops are all over this. Be Station and I. Think they heard me? Yep.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (2m 29s):

Gail Banks telling Sean Holman to slow down after Gail is known for having a world, several world speed

Sean P. Holman (2m 34s):

Records. Well, hold on by, let me point out a couple things. A Gale giggled before he told me to slow down. True, true. and I will always carry that for the rest of my life. That Gale Banks. The Gale Banks, I once scared him enough in my VA Power Jeep where he told me to slow down.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (2m 49s):

Well down. Go Sean Holman All. right? It’s The Truck. Show Podcast. My name is Lightning. He is Holman All. right.

Sean P. Holman (2m 53s):

Those truck show podcast shenanigans have been presented to you by our friends over at Nissan. So if you’re in the market for a brand new mid-size truck, head on over to your local Nissan dealership where you can Test Drive our favorite. The Nissan Frontier. Do

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 8s):

They endorse you? Speeding with Gale Banks?

Sean P. Holman (3m 12s):

I didn’t tell them about it. I’m just going with it. Okay. I’m just, I’m shoe hoarding it into our reed at the beginning.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 17s):

Okay. So if you want a fast vehicle that does some great offroading and tows. Oh,

Sean P. Holman (3m 21s):

Too bad.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 22s):

Said Nissan Nissan dot com. Too

Sean P. Holman (3m 23s):

Bad. Said great. Offroading tows. ’cause I was gonna be like, oh, you can get a final edition GTR or you could get a 400 horsepower Z

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 31s):

Tow. I’m still, but then you

Sean P. Holman (3m 32s):

Said, you said tows and offroad. I’m like All right back. Back to the, back to the frontier. Like he said, building price Nissan usa dot com. And

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 39s):

If you’ve got a 2017 to current Ford Super Duty with a 6.7 liter power stroke and you’re tired of cleaning your map sensor because every time you pull it out, it’s got soot all over it. You know what you do, you head over to Banks Power dot com because I just added it to the website last week. The brand new bank’s map sensor spacer kit. What it does is relocates that map sensor out of that dirty recirculated EGR Airstream. So you get a lot more miles between cleanings and, and the cleaner that map sensor stays, the better fuel economy and power you’ll make. Consistently. Head over to Banks Power dot com to buy yours. I’d say there’s a huge box with an ZO label on it.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 21s):

What’s going on over there?

Sean P. Holman (4m 22s):

Hold on, let me open up my ProTech Malibu knife.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 26s):

Oh wow. Look at that. Hey, is that, is that blue? That what? Lemme see that knife. Lemme see the blade.

Sean P. Holman (4m 31s):

What is that? Don’t catch yourself. Don’t put red on there.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 32s):

I. I won’t. I won’t. That’s really neat looking I. Don’t think I’ve seen this one before. All, right? What is this? Can I, can I take you sideways just for a second? Yes. What is this metal? I mean, why is it blue? Is there something special about this

Sean P. Holman (4m 43s):

Particular one that is a special limited edition staccato collaboration. So staccato the gun maker. And if you see how it’s milled Yeah. The scales, which are the outside, where your hand goes are, are milled. Like the, like the gun itself.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 56s):

That’s super

Sean P. Holman (4m 56s):

Cool. And then that blade is a, it’s off their Malibu is the, the style of knife that they make. And then Is this, is

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 3s):

This like

Sean P. Holman (5m 4s):

Dyed? No, it’s like a blue anodized. An

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 5s):

Anodized. Yeah. Oh, that’s really neat. Okay. Anyway, back to your box on the ground. All. right.

Sean P. Holman (5m 9s):

So our friends at Anzo have a new product lineup that they wanted us to sample. So here we go. Like

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 18s):

What have they debuted now? Oh wow. High

Sean P. Holman (5m 21s):

Foam car shampoo.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 22s):

High foam car shampoo. Look at this. Wow. Hold on a second. pH neutral formulation delivers powerful cleaning action without harmful coatings and finishes. Oh, also unique hybrid technology of surfactants cleaning agents. And Degreasers provides optimal foaming action to lubricate surfaces to lift and carry away contaminants. Yep. All. right?

Sean P. Holman (5m 41s):

I mean they have Ansel’s brand new line of ceramic spray. What?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 45s):

I don’t think that I knew they had that.

Sean P. Holman (5m 47s):

It’s brand new. Okay, this is, they wanted us to share it on the, on the podcast.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 52s):

Yes. Car care ceramic technology protects up to 12 months. Drying agent extreme hydrophobicity. I didn’t know that was a word. Easy spray on wipe off.

Sean P. Holman (6m 1s):

Wow. All, right? So

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 3s):

All, right. But wait, there’s more.

Sean P. Holman (6m 5s):

So we have a, so they said we wanna send you enough for you and Lightning. and I went All, right?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 11s):

What? Are you gonna be that way? Come on now. Oh my gosh. These are weighty. Okay. Lemon scent colorless, multi-surface cleaner. All, right. Or detailer.

Sean P. Holman (6m 22s):

And also the interior detailer with the no scent. Oh,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 26s):

All. right. Interior detail. No scent. Which do you

Sean P. Holman (6m 29s):

Prefer? I? Haven’t used them yet. I literally just Don.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 31s):

No, no, no. I’m, I’m saying generally speaking No scent. No scent. No,

Sean P. Holman (6m 34s):

Because most of my vehicles are newer and I don’t like to cover up the newish smell. Gotcha.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 40s):

Alright. Damn. That is a lot of AMS oil car care products that I did not know they had 30 seconds ago. So the cool

Sean P. Holman (6m 47s):

Thing about the interior detail is that it’s a powerful cleaner, but it also traps odors and it is guaranteed not to streak. So it restores, you know, your luster to like new, there’s no greasy residue and it doesn’t have silicone dyes, all that kinda stuff. So it’s multisurface 90 days worth of UV protection. And again, it traps and eliminates odors. So pretty cool.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 9s):

Do we know if this is on AMS oil dot com yet?

Sean P. Holman (7m 12s):

Yes. This is on their website along with the Miracle wash glass cleaner that you love and the mudslinger. So, oh dang. These products are in addition to those other AM oil car care products.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 23s):

I’ve said it before that mudslinger is awesome and I am I’m understating how awesome Mudslinger is. Have you used it?

Sean P. Holman (7m 29s):

I have, it’s awesome. Okay. It’s great. Great for trips when you want to keep things from clean to your, your vehicle.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 35s):

So that’s not how I use it. ’cause you know, I don’t go off road. Right? How I use it is for beautification, like pop the hood open and all the black hoses, all the black plastics, the battery covered, like all that stuff. It just brings it back to life. It’s, it’s awesome and it smells good too. So

Sean P. Holman (7m 50s):

The best part about this is if you’re already an AM oil person and you love their synthetic lubricants, you can jump right into their car care line. And your favorite lubricants are also going to be your favorite car care products. So head on over to am oil dot com.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 4s):

I’m in. And two episodes ago we checked in with Mike Timmons, who is over at EGR USA. Now EGR makes the roll track. Tono cover Roll Track comes in two amazing configurations, manual and fully automatic. I happen to have the fully automatic version, which we talked about, which is motorized two speed automatic stop. It senses if your fingers are in the way, it doesn’t squish ’em. When you use your key fob to lock your doors in your truck, the roll track will not open. It knows that your truck’s locked, it ain’t gonna let anybody inside. It also knows if someone’s trying to jostle it open, it will lock on its own. It’s absolutely the most state-of-The-Art Tunnel cover that you’re gonna find.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 44s):

They’ve got a ton of applications from gladiators to Silverados Rams. Head over to EGR USA dot com to buy the roll track, the ultimate tunnel cover for your Rig

4 (8m 56s):

The truck show. We’re gonna show you what we know. We’re gonna answer What? The truck. Because truck rides with The truck show. We have the lifted, we have the lower lowered and everything in between. We’ll talk about trucks that run on diesel and the ones that run on gasoline. The truck show. The truck show. The truck show. Whoa Whoa.

Intro (9m 27s):

It’s The truck show with your hosts Lightning and Holman

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 39s):

All. right? If you’re good with it, I’m gonna dial up Mr. Scott Birdsall. You cool. You mean Speedy Scott Birdsall? Is that what he calls himself? That’s

Sean P. Holman (9m 48s):

What I Call him now.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 49s):

Okay. Hey Siri, dial Scott Birdsall.

7 (9m 54s):

I don’t see a Scott Birdsall in your contacts. Oh, that’s, who do you want to call? That’s

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 58s):

Bullshit. That’s Hold on a second. Even funnier. I totally have Scott B-I-R-D-S. There it is. Scott Birdsall. What there? It’s 7 0 7 area code.

Scott Birdsall (10m 12s):

Well, hello there.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 14s):

Howdy. Mr. Scott Birds. Oh, how you do?

Scott Birdsall (10m 17s):

Oh, you know, I’m just sitting here waiting on you guys to call me. Yeah, I

Sean P. Holman (10m 21s):

Was gonna ask how mad you are that Lightning

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 24s):

Was delayed. It’s not my fault. It’s not my fault. We were out talking to another.

Sean P. Holman (10m 28s):

No, Lightning was talking. Lightning can’t stop talking to guests even when

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 30s):

They’re off the mic. That’s bs. Hey Hold, on a second. We gotta play an intro. Don’t move.

Intro (10m 34s):

Here we go. Truck. Famous Hero Star. VIP, ACE Bigwig. Hot Shot Truck. Famous Big shot. Big deal. Big gun. Big cheese. Heavyweight Superstar Truck. Famous. That’s what you are.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 50s):

So Mr. Scott Birdsall, what happened with Pikes Peak? What, what, what, what went on there

Scott Birdsall (10m 56s):

This year? Last year.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 60s):

This year. What happened? We didn’t see you cross the finish line of at Pikes Peak couple weeks back. Poque.

Scott Birdsall (11m 8s):

Well, you know, two words, EcoDiesel.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 12s):

No, no. So I know that the freedom racing engines can produce 900 horsepower. But is it that it can’t do it consistently?

Scott Birdsall (11m 25s):

That engine is just plagued us and it’s the platform. It’s a hundred percent not the builder. I mean, freedom. Freedom has built my race engines for years now. And like for instance, the 5.9 Cummins, they built me, that I set the record on in 2020, that thing was so trapped. I actually hot seas the thing and then came back and set the race on it. But that the EcoDiesel, it’s just, you know, we can’t keep mains in. It blows head gaskets. Like it’s just junk. Do you realize it’s just not a good,

Sean P. Holman (11m 58s):

Do you realize Scotch said something you and I will never be able to say in our lifetime?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 2s):

No. What’s that? What?

Sean P. Holman (12m 3s):

I set the record. Oh yeah. Well never set the record for anything. That’s not true.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 7s):

We could do chili dogs. No, we can

Sean P. Holman (12m 9s):

Do now we, we even suck at that. We

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 11s):

Could do like, make it I

Scott Birdsall (12m 12s):

I can think of plenty of records that you both hold, but I can’t mention ’em on Honda.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 16s):

That

Sean P. Holman (12m 16s):

Is true. Yeah. We’re just jealous.

Scott Birdsall (12m 18s):

I’m sure it’s a great motor for really light duty stuff, but it, it didn’t lend well to being a race engine and you know, like, you know, freedom and I both were really excited about like, trying something new and it just isn’t the right platform. So,

Sean P. Holman (12m 33s):

So are you done done with it? Have you taken it as far as you are willing to?

Scott Birdsall (12m 37s):

Yeah, I’m not, I don’t want to even start the thing ever again. We’re gonna peel it out.

Sean P. Holman (12m 41s):

Boat anchor time.

Scott Birdsall (12m 43s):

Boat anchor time. Yeah. Or you know, sell it to some poor soul that thinks, you know, eco diesels are awesome.

Sean P. Holman (12m 49s):

Or donate it to your favorite podcast so they can make a table out of it.

Scott Birdsall (12m 52s):

I mean, I, I’d totally be okay with that.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 57s):

So then are you going to stay with that mid-size displacement? Are you gonna stay in the three liter zone or what are you thinking? Because you can’t, you

Scott Birdsall (13m 5s):

Can’t

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 5s):

Strap a big engine to that can’t strap a big engine to that Lamont prototype car.

Scott Birdsall (13m 11s):

Oh, we can. And we are and we’re gonna use, so you know, the 6.7 and the the, or the 6.4 variant of the 6.7 that we ran in Smokey was awesome. Same thing with the five nines. So we’re going to run the 4.5 ISB.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 28s):

Okay.

Sean P. Holman (13m 29s):

Wow.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 30s):

Holy. Yeah.

Sean P. Holman (13m 31s):

So how is that not gonna shake that lightweight a little car apart? I

Scott Birdsall (13m 34s):

No, the is, I’m sorry. The ISB is the 6.7. I forget, but it’s the 4.5 Cummins. It’s

Sean P. Holman (13m 40s):

The bread band.

Scott Birdsall (13m 41s):

It’s basically a truck. It’s a, it’s a 6.7 minus two cylinders minus two cylinders. Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 46s):

But it’s so fricking heavy

Sean P. Holman (13m 48s):

And vibrating

Scott Birdsall (13m 49s):

Weight is free down force.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 52s):

I mean, that’s an interesting way of looking at it. I mean

Sean P. Holman (13m 55s):

That’s what I say in my Jeep all the time.

Scott Birdsall (13m 57s):

Yeah. So, you know, if, if I wanna stay away from, you know, using Volkswagen engines or you know, some other esoteric I I don’t wanna, I basically don’t want to have problems again. Like that car has been plaguing me for three years and I just want it to work.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 15s):

Forgive me for being I know I Mr. Obvious here, but why not Like a, the tried and true LS I mean I know it’s not exciting, but why not? Or ’cause

Scott Birdsall (14m 24s):

It has to be a diesel.

Sean P. Holman (14m 25s):

He’s breaking a diesel record. Lightning.

Scott Birdsall (14m 27s):

Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 28s):

Oh well, but okay, okay.

Sean P. Holman (14m 32s):

So his option in that category would be the Oldsmobile three 50.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 37s):

Why not the, the old GM six five.

Sean P. Holman (14m 40s):

That’s a lot of down horse.

Scott Birdsall (14m 41s):

How about a 6.2 outta my Humvee? That’s what I’m

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 44s):

Talking about. Exactly. Strap an old side wind or tur

Scott Birdsall (14m 47s):

On it. I think that might be worse than the EcoDiesel.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 50s):

So what about the GM three liter or long or what

Sean P. Holman (14m 53s):

About the straight six? How are you gonna fit that in a space of a V six? Yeah,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 57s):

What are you talking about?

Scott Birdsall (14m 58s):

Talking about? Yeah, he’s right. The problem with that is it’s too long. The four cylinder will be almost too long. We’re gonna have to make some modifications to make that work. But a six cylinder would, there’s No way I could fit that.

Sean P. Holman (15m 9s):

What are you gonna do when each one of those cylinders fires and it’s like, and it just does burnouts every four pulses.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 18s):

It will feel like the iest cam on a V eight ever.

Scott Birdsall (15m 22s):

I mean, I’m okay with that. I just need it to go fast.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 26s):

So, but those engines are notoriously slow reacting. Right? The throttle response is, is poor generally speaking. Why not a, a duramax or something like that?

Scott Birdsall (15m 38s):

Duramax is far too heavy. I would love to put a V eight duramax in it, but it’s just, it’s just too heavy. I mean, heavy

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 47s):

Weight them no seriously I no weigh them. No. That engine

Sean P. Holman (15m 50s):

Probably outweighs the chassis.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 52s):

I don’t think it’s as he, it’s what, 600 something pounds for a, a durmax?

Sean P. Holman (15m 57s):

Not fully dressed. You think with everything on it, fluids and everything, it’s only 600 pounds somewhere

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 2s):

Around there.

Scott Birdsall (16m 2s):

Yeah, I think they’re heavier than that. Let me, let me pull up the old Google here.

Sean P. Holman (16m 6s):

Yeah, that’s what I’m doing right now. Yeah.

Scott Birdsall (16m 8s):

Oh, you’re googling it too. Let see. You can

Sean P. Holman (16m 10s):

Get it faster. You do it faster. Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 11s):

Yeah. Okay. It’s a durmax six, six way

Sean P. Holman (16m 14s):

I have on here according to the Google 835 pounds.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 18s):

8 35. Yep.

Scott Birdsall (16m 19s):

I got, I got the same thing. That’s, that’s, you know. Yeah, absolutely. Quite a bit heavier than the, let me see What, the 4.5 ISB weighs or is something, lemme see what I forget the I. Think it’s I sb naming algorithm. They gave it.

Sean P. Holman (16m 33s):

I’m almost there. Oh, There we go, I’ve got 376 kilograms. Welcome. But I don’t know I I Don’t know What. the conversion is, hold on, lemme find it in weight here. 818 possibly.

Scott Birdsall (16m 46s):

Oh my gosh, that’s huge. Four

Sean P. Holman (16m 47s):

Four. Bt what’s a four BT way? That’s what it is. It’s four

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 49s):

Bt it’s a four. Bt you

Scott Birdsall (16m 50s):

Know the four bts a great engine, but I can’t, that would be really slow moving. Yeah, like a non-com rail mechanical thing.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 58s):

That’s what I was thinking you were talking about. It’s a four bt That is a notoriously just a slug. Yeah,

Scott Birdsall (17m 3s):

Yeah. It’s 750 pounds.

Sean P. Holman (17m 5s):

Yeah. There we

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 6s):

Go. So wait a minute. Seven 50, hold on Scotty. Seven 50. And you could do a durmax for a mere 80 pounds more. That’s, I mean, that’s a no brainer my friend. Let’s do that. I got a lot of dur sitting around. Whoa, Whoa.

Sean P. Holman (17m 21s):

Are we doing business development? Is that what happened

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 23s):

Here? I’m

Scott Birdsall (17m 23s):

Just saying I. I mean, are we? Yeah. What are we doing here?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 27s):

I’m just saying

Scott Birdsall (17m 28s):

No I I really wanna run a Cummins I I like the Cummins platform and I know it. And it’s something that I don’t you wanna lea,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 35s):

But do you wanna win? Do you wanna win or do you just wanna do Cummins?

Scott Birdsall (17m 40s):

I always wanna win

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 42s):

Then have an open mind.

Scott Birdsall (17m 45s):

I am, I’m gonna put a 4.5

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 50s):

All. right? I mean, I’m just saying if you want, we

Scott Birdsall (17m 52s):

Got some

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 52s):

Witchcraft. Want durmax. If you want a durmax, they’ll get you. I’ll I’ll find a durmax for you. Just keep, just think

Scott Birdsall (17m 57s):

About it. Yeah, we got some, we got some witchcraft up our sleeve for, for spool time too.

Sean P. Holman (18m 1s):

Oh, interesting. Yeah,

Scott Birdsall (18m 2s):

But I can’t,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 3s):

Oh, so you divulge

Sean P. Holman (18m 4s):

The witchcraft.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 5s):

The witchcraft is gonna be nitrous but No, the nitrous runs out. Oh wait a minute. He’s doing hybrid

Sean P. Holman (18m 12s):

Too heavy.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 13s):

Why is it too heavy?

Sean P. Holman (18m 13s):

Because you have batteries.

Scott Birdsall (18m 15s):

The motor, he’s got, you got, you got nitrous, right?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 17s):

Yeah. Okay. Nitrous

Scott Birdsall (18m 19s):

But not into the engines.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 21s):

Oh, you’re gonna, you’re gonna spray it on the intercooler and the, the radiator where you’re having so many issues. Nope. No. Did you say no?

Scott Birdsall (18m 30s):

Yeah. No.

Sean P. Holman (18m 31s):

Wow. Lightning’s perplexed. You should see the look on face

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 33s):

Warehouse. Do you spray it? If it’s not, are you gonna snort it? I don’t know where the witchcraft

Sean P. Holman (18m 38s):

Comes through. Lightning.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 40s):

You’re not gonna spray

Scott Birdsall (18m 40s):

It. How would you speed up a turbine?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 44s):

You’re going to spray it into the exhaust stream.

Scott Birdsall (18m 51s):

Yeah,

Sean P. Holman (18m 53s):

He’s thinking interesting. He’s think smoke smoke is happening though. He needs rou brain core right now. I it’s,

Scott Birdsall (18m 58s):

It’s says diesel anti lag.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (18m 60s):

It doesn’t act as a fuel though. So that’s going to cool The exhaust gas, which would normally, the exhaust gas, the heat and pressure are what? Spin the turbine.

Scott Birdsall (19m 12s):

So who says there’s no fuel going in there?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 14s):

You’re putting fuel as well in there. You’re doing fuel and nitrous into the, into the turbine. The fuck are

Scott Birdsall (19m 21s):

You working on over there? It’s, it’s too hard to troll you guys.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 25s):

Okay.

Sean P. Holman (19m 26s):

Lightning knows just enough where he is like this is plausible.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 29s):

No, it’s not. I

Sean P. Holman (19m 30s):

I was watching him mentally break

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 31s):

Down I. It’s not, it’s not possible. You

Sean P. Holman (19m 33s):

Should have seen me sitting here looking at him and, and completely like every bit of, of gear and computing power that is in Lightning’s head was being used. All

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 45s):

Commodore 64 in my head was being used in that moment.

Sean P. Holman (19m 47s):

You know how you can overspeed turbo? We were overspeeding lightning’s core. His, his brainstem as he overspent.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 53s):

I do not have an intel.

Scott Birdsall (19m 54s):

You know, I’m a solid, solid seven hours away from you guys. and I can smell the smoke from his head.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (19m 60s):

I appreciate that. Thank you Scott. That’s, that’s very kind of you. So what are you really doing?

Scott Birdsall (20m 7s):

What do you mean? For engine?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 9s):

No for I. know what engine

Scott Birdsall (20m 10s):

You’re doing. but No I can’t. The the, the, I can’t, I can’t divulge that technology yet.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 15s):

Why did we call him again? Remind me why we called this guy.

Sean P. Holman (20m 19s):

I could tell you it’s very simple. Yeah, because we love him. Number

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 22s):

I know we love him. Yes.

Sean P. Holman (20m 23s):

He’ll take our call number two and number three, his AMS oil sponsored Toyota is about to break 570,000 miles per hour at Bonneville. Ah, okay. With the Toyota two Jay-Z in it. I minimum

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 35s):

I have seen that truck and I was there when it broke the world record,

Sean P. Holman (20m 39s):

But

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (20m 40s):

It’s not done in the southern California desert. So

Sean P. Holman (20m 42s):

Pikes Peak may have been a wash this year, but that doesn’t mean our friend Scott is done being Speedy Scott Birdsall. Nope. Speedy. Scott is heading to the Salt soon.

Scott Birdsall (20m 51s):

Yeah. So I got that 91 Toyota Hilux pickup that we got. The 1,260 horsepower two JayZ in with the big Garrett. G 45 on it. You mean

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 2s):

You mean the same truck that only, that only has 1200 horsepower? It doesn’t have anything less that same

Scott Birdsall (21m 7s):

1 12 12 60. Don’t try to cheat me. That’s,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 10s):

That’s hard to get that. What I’m saying is remember when we were hanging out shooting some video of you, he

Sean P. Holman (21m 14s):

Doesn’t remember when you were hanging out with him. He’s a

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 17s):

Fine, he’s far above

Sean P. Holman (21m 18s):

Our level. I I. We come and go and we might as well pass him in the grocery. Lemme

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 22s):

Rephrase. Remember that one time when you set the world record in that truck on one of your test runs and it only made 1200 horsepower. It wouldn’t make 5, 6, 7, or 800 horsepower. And so you kept smoking the rear wheels off the starting line at the standing mile.

Scott Birdsall (21m 37s):

Yeah. You know, it’s when you have a 2 25 size rear tire, like you’ve got some traction issues. Yeah, I was super shocked that it went that fast. I mean, you were there like I first gear was a wash, second gear was a wash and then, you know, a third of the way down the track I was able to start, you know, actually pushing the gas down. But I, you know, I think with some good tire on the back of that thing it would do 200 and a half mile.

Sean P. Holman (22m 3s):

So we, we’ve talked to you previously and we talked about well, well we’ve talked to you a few times. One was you’re like, I’m gonna go after this record, but I gotta find this truck. And then it was like, I found this truck and I am putting a two Jay-Z in it. And then it was like, hey, I’m getting close. Lightning was out there, set the world record. So now you’re to the point of your goal. We’re a couple years removed from our first conversations on it. The truck is gorgeous. What you’ve done to it. Thank you is awesome. You’ve kind of, you know, sorted out the, the bugs that you had with the first run. When you’re doing the record stuff, what is the record to beat number one and what do you think you can realistically get out? Like what are you gunning for? Are you gonna obliterate the record or are you just trying to like get it by a 10th?

Sean P. Holman (22m 44s):

Well wait,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (22m 45s):

Scott, Scott, before you answer Yeah, I, we gotta set the rec because you did, you did a record when I saw you, but that’s not the Bonneville record. So describe the two records. Yeah,

Scott Birdsall (22m 54s):

So one is for Half Mile and it’s Unrepped standing half mile. What was the 1 74 or something? Yes. I can’t remember the number but that’s, that’s what we did in the standing half mile with The truck on Unrepped with little pizza cutter tires on it. Bonneville is completely different. It’s on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah and it is a five mile run. So I get five miles to get up to as fast as I can get the record for the class my truck runs in is 180 9. And the, and that’s mini mid-size pickup. What holds it and the fastest, do

Sean P. Holman (23m 35s):

You know, I’m just curious.

Scott Birdsall (23m 36s):

Like what? It’s a Toyota. It’s a, yeah, it’s a turbo Toyota Tacoma.

Sean P. Holman (23m 40s):

Okay. Okay.

Scott Birdsall (23m 41s):

The fastest mini midsize pickup in the three liter class is 180 9. And the fastest mini midsize pickup truck ever is 2 22. And my goal is two 40.

Sean P. Holman (23m 54s):

Wow. Wow.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (23m 57s):

That’s fast.

Sean P. Holman (23m 58s):

I remember going one 40 in a Ram, SRT 10 and the thing was trying to peel door panels and, and window seals right on off of it.

Scott Birdsall (24m 7s):

We’ve, we’ve installed some contingencies into The truck to make that not happen.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (24m 12s):

What do you think it’s gonna feel like at that speed?

Scott Birdsall (24m 15s):

I’m not sure. I have never driven on the salt other than, you know, I took my tow rig out there and scared my wife half to death and did 105 in it. But I’ve never driven on the salt other than, you know, hoing my dually out there. So it, it’s, I’m curious to see how it runs at Shift sector. When we did like 1 74 in the thing, it was straight As. I could have driven it with one finger.

Sean P. Holman (24m 41s):

Does it have a windshield? So I think,

Scott Birdsall (24m 44s):

Yeah, it’s got a windshield, it’s got a glass windshield and then it’s got, you know, Lex and side windows and lex and rear window.

Sean P. Holman (24m 52s):

What temperature will you run the climate control and AC at?

Scott Birdsall (24m 55s):

You know what’s funny? So Vintage Air actually came out in a sponsor because I don’t know if any of you know, I think I, think Jay knows, but I can’t physically sweat. I have a condition called Hyperhydrosis. So Bonneville would probably end my life just being there because it’s, you know, a hundred degrees on the salt for a week. So we put the biggest huge vintage air system in The truck. So when I’m staging and when The truck is running and I’m getting pulled back that, you know, I basically don’t burn to death inside the thing. So it has ac

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 31s):

Yeah. And how much power is that leaching off?

Scott Birdsall (25m 35s):

It won’t because the AC turns off at high RPM.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 38s):

Oh, okay. So

Scott Birdsall (25m 39s):

Yeah, so it’s just there to keep me alive while I’m staging. You know, I can, I can deal with the heat for, you know, a minute while I’m running.

Sean P. Holman (25m 45s):

So you won’t be shifting and then it’ll drop down below the threshold. Blow cold air up your, do you have like the ball cooler off Amazon where you put it right into your race suit? Yeah. And then you do the shift, it drops RPMs, you get 15 seconds of ball, cool air and then you’re back to the, back to the races. Is that

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 0s):

What it’s called? Ball Cool. Air I

Scott Birdsall (26m 2s):

I. Well seeing as this thing has a, you know, a billet six XD sequential and you know, you shift it flat and there’s no delay. I don’t think that the air conditioning will turn on in that little tiny a hundred millisecond. It’s Just, little

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 15s):

Just little puff. But

Scott Birdsall (26m 16s):

It was

Sean P. Holman (26m 17s):

Like poof. It feel good. Poof.

Scott Birdsall (26m 20s):

But when Everett installed the system, he plumbed a tube all the way underneath the seat.

Sean P. Holman (26m 26s):

Yes, he did.

Scott Birdsall (26m 27s):

Up to where the, up to where the, you know, your Gooch is where your, where your submarine belt goes. So it has a Gooch cooler.

Sean P. Holman (26m 34s):

Yes. Does does it. Of course it does run in your ass. Perfect.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 39s):

Going back to the speed. So you have to do, it’s two-way average, is it not?

Scott Birdsall (26m 42s):

Yeah, so you gotta, you go out, you make your run. Let’s say I do like 215 miles an hour. They’ll pull you, turn you around, bring you back, put you an impound till the next day. And then you go out in the morning and you back it up. You know, unlike shift sector where if you do one run at 175 miles an hour and you set a record, there’s your record at Bonneville, they say, you know, oh that was cute. Now do it again. And then you go out and that’s how you do it.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (27m 11s):

So I didn’t know if it’s, so it’s the same direction on the salt both ways. They don’t turn you around one’s north and then one’s south.

Scott Birdsall (27m 20s):

No, they just turn you around and you come back to the start and you go again. Again.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (27m 25s):

What’s the weather outlook? So last year you were rained out. It was basically a lake and

Scott Birdsall (27m 30s):

It was a lake all the way up until the loading ramp at Bonneville. Like it was Whoa. I went out there and looked at it and it looked like an actual lake.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (27m 39s):

And what’s the prediction for this year’s conditions and when

Scott Birdsall (27m 42s):

Is it? I’m not saying anything. Okay. I don’t want to put any bad juju or jinx or anything out there I. Just hope it stays nice.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (27m 48s):

And how long does it have to be dry? You know, the, the weather up there for it to be drivable? I I, honestly don’t know. Is a, a day, a week, a month, how fast does that dry off the salt?

Scott Birdsall (27m 59s):

That I don’t know. But I know if it gets, if it gets really wet, it takes a long, long time for it to dry out. But right now the conditions are looking really good. It’s very flat.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (28m 8s):

When is Bonneville speed week?

Scott Birdsall (28m 11s):

Well, the racing starts on August 3rd, but I show up on the 31st. You know, do all your tech and stuff, you know, get set up on the first and second and then race on the third.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (28m 22s):

And do you pull The truck up there with the nuke van so you can sleep in it and make chocolate chip cookies for your boy Lightning? Or are you going up in the the Cummins in the ram?

Scott Birdsall (28m 31s):

You know I got, I got You’re gonna be stoked. We got cool place to stay this year. So I got, I got extra bougie this year and I went and bought a 36 foot diesel pusher motor home. What,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (28m 43s):

What? Say

Scott Birdsall (28m 44s):

What? So we’re gonna, we’re gonna have the big Winnebago out there with the double pop outs and ac and all that good stuff.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (28m 50s):

Dang. You know, I

Sean P. Holman (28m 51s):

I was just about to insult him and I’m not gonna do that now. No.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (28m 54s):

Who, who’s insult

Scott Birdsall (28m 55s):

Him for what? Yeah. No we’re not. We’re gonna be using Clifford the big red truck for push and pull and all that stuff.

Sean P. Holman (29m 1s):

I was just gonna say if he, if he breaks the record is can we claim him as our, our best friend Scott Birdsall and then if he doesn’t, can we just disown him and never talk to him again?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (29m 10s):

I don’t think we would do that. That’s not a real friend. I think you’re not understanding the word friend.

Scott Birdsall (29m 14s):

Yeah, that, that sounds really aggressive

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (29m 17s):

Now. Okay, so that has, first off, who’s included in your crew

Sean P. Holman (29m 23s):

And is Jay Tillis on

Scott Birdsall (29m 25s):

The list? It’s going to be, that’s where I was going. I mean you’re on. I mean you guys are, you guys are all on all my crews. You just, I gotta show up.

Sean P. Holman (29m 31s):

That’s a good point. ’cause we, we claim we’re gonna show up for lunch and we can’t even do that. But

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (29m 35s):

I don’t wanna spoon with someone is what I’m saying.

Scott Birdsall (29m 37s):

Oh, there’s no, there’s no, there’s no sleeping in my rv. You guys are on your own.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (29m 42s):

Oh, I ain’t there. That

Sean P. Holman (29m 43s):

If you, if you rewind the tape, he said I have a, I have an rv. He didn’t say we right. Nor do you say there’s extra room for you

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (29m 51s):

Now is the, is the wifey go up?

Scott Birdsall (29m 52s):

No, but I will make you cookies in it.

Sean P. Holman (29m 53s):

Okay,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (29m 54s):

Got

Sean P. Holman (29m 54s):

It. But you’re on your own for sleeping Now

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (29m 56s):

Does the wife go up and support or she’s like later don’t die.

Scott Birdsall (30m 0s):

She has work, she runs the optical department here at a, at a big hospital. So she’s a big wig so she doesn’t get to take a lot of time off. Oh,

Sean P. Holman (30m 9s):

So there is room for Lightning,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (30m 11s):

Right? Maybe there will be some

Sean P. Holman (30m 13s):

Spoon I did there. Exactly. I don’t have to, it’s

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (30m 14s):

Not gonna get hot or sweaty in there because he came in, he can’t sweat.

Sean P. Holman (30m 18s):

Well and also you have to be careful making cookies because Lightning will eat the cookie dough and then you just won’t have as many cookies. Dude,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (30m 23s):

I love cookie dough. I almost tried to pluck the cookie dough

Scott Birdsall (30m 25s):

When my cookie dough is just one of those amazing substances. I’m gonna go make cookies like right after this. Just so you cookies

Sean P. Holman (30m 33s):

With Lightning. It’s a, it’s a podcast spinoff. It’s you and Scott. What episode? Yeah, exactly. What

Scott Birdsall (30m 40s):

Who’s that? Who’s that one? Who’s that one cook that had the the, the lady, the, the old lady that had the funny voice when she, when she did her show.

Sean P. Holman (30m 48s):

Julia Childs.

Scott Birdsall (30m 50s):

Yes. Julia Childs. I could see Lightning doing that. I

Sean P. Holman (30m 52s):

I think Lighting did that the dude at on Instagram at chef reactions would probably tear chef reactions. Tear apart his video. Yeah, you haven’t by the way, if you’re listening and you love food, you have to follow chef reactions on Instagram. It’s a dude who worked his way up in the kitchen, became a chef, and he for a while started this YouTube and Instagram channel or ordeal where he would take bad cooking and sometimes good cooking off the internet and then pick apart the real. It’s huge. He’s got like a gazillion followers. The dude’s hilarious. And he is basically turned it into his full-time job and all he does is rip apart other people’s cooking and I love every second of it.

Scott Birdsall (31m 29s):

I mean. That’s kinda amazing. Oh dude,

Sean P. Holman (31m 30s):

It’s so good. Chef reactions. It’s, it’s, it’s awesome. All, right? So

Scott Birdsall (31m 34s):

I kind of wanna do the same thing for other people’s welds.

Sean P. Holman (31m 39s):

W weld reactions that that might not take.

Scott Birdsall (31m 41s):

Yeah. Weld reactions.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (31m 43s):

What is, what’s left to do on your two Jay-Z powered Hilux to get you there?

Scott Birdsall (31m 50s):

Well, I mean everything’s pretty much done. We’re gonna put it on the dyno and do some polishing up on the flash shifting. And right now we’re building rear Wheel tubs for it ’cause it never had ’em before. And I’m going to build a front air down for it that’s a little closer to the ground.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (32m 5s):

And we talked about it before, we were giving you a hard time about not being able to have a, an air duct through a headlight. You reminded us that the class you’re in, you have to have a fairly stock looking body which didn’t allow you to remove a headlight and have a, a nuc or anything like that going into the intake. So you’re relying on a whole lot of force going through the factory grill and you do have a duct back behind the grill, but it’s not as good as if Yeah, it were in front of the grill. But what do you do? I guess you can’t, you’re screwed, right?

Scott Birdsall (32m 39s):

Yeah, there’s a big, there’s a big eight inch bell mouth right behind the grill and then the core support is cut out in front of the bell mouth. So the, the turbo, you know, as soon as I get up to, you know, a decent amount of speed, it’ll be force fed. And then as, as you know, Jay, we have all the, you know, bank’s data logging inside that so we can see, you know, What, the pressure is at the front of The truck. Like any, any boost we’re getting at speed inside the intake, like all that stuff is logged. It’s pretty slick. And

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (33m 12s):

Have you done any calculations, Scott, I can’t remember if we had this discussion were what horsepower do you need based on the weight and the, the wind resistance and all that to achieve two? You said you need to beat 2 22 but you wanna go two 40 and change what, what is it? 800 horsepower, 1200 horsepower. Like what’s gonna get you there? Sounds like

Sean P. Holman (33m 31s):

1,260 I and I

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (33m 32s):

Only I to guess I only asked that ’cause and I didn’t know how, that’s how people did it. Like I think you actually, when you were on Gail’s podcast all those years ago, he was t talking about like, he was saying that his calculations were all about the horsepower needed to go that speed and that’s all he cared about. And then you guys agreed on that stuff, right?

Scott Birdsall (33m 49s):

Right. Yeah, Gail, Gail was a lot more methodical and you know, probably 40 IQ points higher than I am. So I just put the biggest turbo I can on and get as much power as I can and you know, try to make the, the chassis work for what it’s gonna do. You know, I did a lot of research into what successful Bonneville racers do to go fast. You know, 1,260 horsepower is about, you know, 1300 horsepower is what I feel comfortable with running a two JayZ at for that long. I don’t know if I feel comfortable with, you know, a stock block engine for any more than that.

Scott Birdsall (34m 29s):

So we’re at the power ceiling now and then, you know, we’re adding a ton of ballast to The truck. Really aerodynamically there’s not much we can do because of the rules. So we just have to make it as heavy as possible and just, you know, make sure the tune is right and you know the alignment’s good and go for it.

Sean P. Holman (34m 47s):

All. right. I am tired of talking about Bonneville.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (34m 51s):

You’re the one that brought it up.

Sean P. Holman (34m 52s):

I know, but now I’m moving on because Scott has another project that’s gonna be like way, like, I’m not saying going 240 miles an hour isn’t awesome ’cause it is. But I feel like if we talk about it too much I don’t wanna put anything on the world. I wanna see him do it. ’cause I want have him come back on and I want him to be like the two JayZ held together. I was at this much power. The bank’s eye dashes, all 47 of ’em have been daisy chained together were amazing. and I love,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (35m 14s):

I love,

Sean P. Holman (35m 15s):

I love AMS oil. All the stuff I I want. That’s all great.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (35m 18s):

Now are you gonna, are we gonna, that

Scott Birdsall (35m 19s):

Truck really does look like the space shuttle when you turn it on man inside with the tech dash and all the eye dash

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (35m 25s):

And everything else. Let’s not to pat myself on the back, but Scott you will admit that out at your standing half mile the Eyed Dashes did alert you to the fact that there was a programming malfunction in not a malfunction, but like there was an issue that you had to overcome and you’re like, wow, it was in the data logs. You saw it when Joey was sitting there and without that data.

Scott Birdsall (35m 46s):

Yeah. What was that

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (35m 47s):

You had stages 1, 2, 3, 4, and five or something like that. Oh

Scott Birdsall (35m 51s):

That’s right. It was the, it was the boost. The boost control wasn’t working.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (35m 54s):

So he so Holman, he thought that his boost originally was supposed to come on in stages so no boost, A little more boost. So all the way up to 1200 horsepower, what he found and he kept blowing the tires off for the first few runs. He was getting all depressed. He’s like, I keep blowing this off. I have no traction. Well in the data log it showed that he was making 1200 horsepower in level two. So not in level five or six where he thought he was going to get it. So he had no staged 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 700 horsepower. It was all beans or no beans. Thi

Sean P. Holman (36m 23s):

This is, this is great, but I I wish Scott the best in making 240 miles an hour. ’cause I wanna have him come back. But I feel like, yeah, we’ll do it if we keep talking about like I

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (36m 34s):

Other stuff I get it. So what do you wanna talk about his offroad Porsche? His new No, his his older new Porsche. No, no. You want talk about his,

Sean P. Holman (36m 40s):

I do want talk the offroad Porsche and by the way, resolute Motorsports awesome. His drift car.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (36m 43s):

What is he? He he’s got a Supra.

Sean P. Holman (36m 45s):

No, he got something better. He got like the raddest freaking thing ever that our audience is gonna be like you buried the headlock The

Scott Birdsall (36m 52s):

K five

Sean P. Holman (36m 53s):

Yeah. Or K 10? No, no, yeah, the, the K 10 on 42 inch Super swampers that he’s gonna be sticking a twin turbo big block in so he can just make it a burnout truck. Like let’s talk about that. Okay.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 5s):

We

Sean P. Holman (37m 5s):

Talk about that. Yes,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 6s):

You’re right. We did bury the lead

Sean P. Holman (37m 7s):

I feel like we buried the lead. Like oh racer Scott Birdsall is going racing. Yeah, I get it. That’s what he does. The, the better headline is Racer Scott Birdsall builds ridiculous twin turbo big block old vintage Chevy on 40 twos. That’s gonna be a burnout machine. That’s what we need to talk about.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 25s):

Wow. You just went up three octas. That was awesome

Sean P. Holman (37m 27s):

Because I feel like,

Scott Birdsall (37m 28s):

And he really did I think it got him too excited, right?

Sean P. Holman (37m 30s):

I exactly. I

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 31s):

Now do you have a nut cooler under your seat? What’s going on

Sean P. Holman (37m 33s):

I? Do I do? And and I. and I. It’s actually just one of the Dr. Peppers outta the fridge here. I just sit on it. Okay, gotcha. But and, and I won’t mark it so you won’t know which one you’re drinking outta. Oh gross. Anyway, I feel like race your Scott Zo goes racing. Is is, that’s great. Okay. But let’s

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 47s):

Talk. So been there, done there, been

Sean P. Holman (37m 49s):

There, done that. No, no. We gotta talk about it, but that’s not the headline. The headline is Twin Turbo, big block, monster Truck. Does burnouts.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 55s):

How did this happen?

Scott Birdsall (37m 56s):

Well, you know, I have a problem with Facebook marketplace

Sean P. Holman (37m 60s):

And no, the problem is, is you have the money to have a problem with Facebook marketplace. ’cause I’m always going through there going, ugh, I only had it.

Scott Birdsall (38m 7s):

Yeah, that’s also an issue. So, so I’m perusing the old marketplace and I come across a K 10 that is bright yellow and lifted and sitting on 30 nines and it was six grand. And I’m like, no freaking way that, and it’s a short, a real short bed.

Sean P. Holman (38m 29s):

It’s a 69, right?

Scott Birdsall (38m 31s):

71. So anyways, I called a guy, I’m like, I know this is a scam, I’m gonna get jacked, you know, whatever. So me and my employee go to pick it up and it’s, it’s the real deal. Ended up making a deal on it, got it to the shop and then, you know, all the stupid ideas started to flow and I’m So, wait a minute. He, I’m,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (38m 50s):

He says he wants, he wanted 6,900. You made a deal. So you got it below 6,900?

Scott Birdsall (38m 57s):

No, six grand. It was six grand. I just paid all the money. Okay. I never pay all the money on Facebook marketplace either. That’s a hell of a deal

Sean P. Holman (39m 3s):

Deal too.

Scott Birdsall (39m 4s):

Yeah, I was kind of upset about that though. I was trying to walk away for five grand. But you know, I get the thing, you know, I got all these different companies I work with and you know, I hit up Auto, auto metal direct and they’re like, oh yeah, we’re gonna send you every single body panel ’cause this thing’s a total crap box. You know, it’s like every panel’s trashed on it. So it’s gonna be an all new body. We’re gonna do a twin Turbo big block with two big Garrets on it. Not sure about transmission. Maybe we’ll go full stupid and do like a sequential or something in it. I don’t know. It’s just gonna be, I just wanna build something that’s completely not serious and ridiculous and old Smokey was like crazy and ridiculous.

Scott Birdsall (39m 44s):

But it was also really serious too. Like it was a serious race machine. This thing is gonna have no purpose in life other than to be ridiculous and do cyclone burnouts on 40 twos.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (39m 53s):

I love it. This is gonna be Bigfoot except not a Ford.

Scott Birdsall (39m 56s):

Yeah. You guys have seen pictures of the thing. It’s, it’s kind of low slung. It’s it’s got radius, fender wells. Yep. You know, we’re looking

Sean P. Holman (40m 4s):

At right now the picture you sent me, we’ve got it on the Yeah, the TV here in the pothead.

Scott Birdsall (40m 9s):

Yeah. The thing is, so I love it and like, you know, of course like that’s, that’s what all the cool kids had, you know, when I was like young and couldn’t drive yet, et cetera. So like, like I’m gonna build one now and it’s gonna be freaking gnarly.

Sean P. Holman (40m 24s):

Now are you gonna go GM 81 Crate Engine or are you gonna go 4 54?

Scott Birdsall (40m 31s):

We’re probably gonna do like a five 40.

Sean P. Holman (40m 33s):

Oh okay. Just fine. Screw everything. Just five. Why not do a 5 72 while

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (40m 37s):

You’re at it? And so you got like a big I 6 71 blower coming out the hood or what?

Scott Birdsall (40m 40s):

Yeah,

Sean P. Holman (40m 41s):

Twin turbos.

Scott Birdsall (40m 42s):

Well, I’ve been talk, I’ve been talking to Jacob at Smiting performance and he’s, he’s dreaming up a 540 inch turbo motor for me.

Sean P. Holman (40m 54s):

I’m, look, I’m literally looking at it right now just to going like that thing’s freaking

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (40m 57s):

I. See to me you gotta have a supercharger coming out the hood on that sets it needs to look like I’m a monster truck I know

Scott Birdsall (41m 3s):

I’m a turbo guy man. So

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (41m 5s):

Why can’t you do a compound? Why can’t you do Twin Garretts into a, a big, big Whipple or a 5 7, 1 6 7 1, something like that.

Scott Birdsall (41m 12s):

The supercharge is cool and all, but something that big doesn’t need anything to help it out down low.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (41m 18s):

You’re doing it for looks,

Scott Birdsall (41m 19s):

You stick a couple

Sean P. Holman (41m 23s):

He

Scott Birdsall (41m 23s):

Doing for Bushies,

Sean P. Holman (41m 25s):

He’s doing it for smoke. He’s not doing it for, for looks. Yeah. Okay.

Scott Birdsall (41m 28s):

I like turbos. I don’t like Superchargers

Sean P. Holman (41m 30s):

Plus it sounds like a, a jet winding up as it’s blowing chunk lugs of super Swampers off in Yeah, into Spender Player

Scott Birdsall (41m 40s):

As there’s like TSL carnage going everywhere

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (41m 43s):

Now. Does it run right now?

Scott Birdsall (41m 44s):

You know, I’ll be No, no, it’s, it’s got a 4 54 in it that’s supposedly like rebuilt and all that. But you know how that goes.

Sean P. Holman (41m 51s):

I know where you can get it didn’t

Scott Birdsall (41m 52s):

Run when I picked it up.

Sean P. Holman (41m 53s):

I know where you get a gm. Good wrench. 89, 3 50 Crate Engine.

Scott Birdsall (42m 1s):

I think there’s a couple of those in our back 40 at the shop.

Sean P. Holman (42m 4s):

Lightning had one of those. Yeah. So this wasn’t a, it was a Mr. Good wrench. Was it

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (42m 8s):

Mr. Good Wrench three 50? Yeah, we I gave that away.

Scott Birdsall (42m 11s):

Was that the 185 or 195 horsepower variant?

Sean P. Holman (42m 15s):

It didn’t have a smog pump. I’m going with 1 95.

Scott Birdsall (42m 18s):

Yeah. You know the seventies were gross man. There was some crazy cars back then with like big blocks that made 150 horsepower. Yeah. Log

Sean P. Holman (42m 25s):

Torque. No power. Yep. It was a, there was a sucky tie my friend. But to see I, I’m glad that you’re going back in history to right the wrongs by shoving something like that in this old 71 K 10 guess.

Scott Birdsall (42m 38s):

Yeah. You guys both have to come up and take a ride in the thing. It’s gonna be the stupidest thing that’s ever like, driven on the street. I I. Think

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (42m 46s):

So. So I, I’m imagining the panel, this is gonna get an all new I listen Scott’s a perfectionist. If there’s anything you need to know about Scott, it’s like every nut and bolt have to be clocked perfectly. That was really on display last year or the year before at the Toyota Tread pass with his a couple of BMW. You had a BMW and some other vehicles in there and they were perfect. I I couldn’t find a flaw in the paint. I couldn’t find into flaw mechanically, electrically it’s you’re, you’re a psychopath. But I love it. and I imagine that this is going to turn out the same way. It’s gonna be vintage but it’s gonna be beautiful.

Scott Birdsall (43m 25s):

Yeah. You’ll see at sea it’ll be pretty close to perfect. I’m not going to do a bunch of show car smoothing or anything like that, but it’s gonna look like a brand new 71 K 10 that’s been lifted. And that know if you don’t put

Sean P. Holman (43m 41s):

We’re we’re getting set a day lighters with a smiley face on there. I’m gonna be pissed at you.

Scott Birdsall (43m 48s):

You know, I was gonna try to do like a the same look we’re gonna put like the triple three inch tube. Yes. Ridiculous. Yes. Fake roll bar in the back. Yes. I’m gonna do some big like LP nines across the top of that.

Sean P. Holman (44m 3s):

Nice. That’ll be cool. Yeah. Yeah. Oh dude.

Scott Birdsall (44m 5s):

Like lights at work.

Sean P. Holman (44m 6s):

So

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (44m 7s):

This is gonna be, this will be done for SEMA is what you’re saying?

Sean P. Holman (44m 10s):

That’s what I heard.

Scott Birdsall (44m 11s):

Not this year. Next year. Oh. Oh, what, what? There’s No way I can build

Sean P. Holman (44m 15s):

What Booth will be in like

Scott Birdsall (44m 17s):

My title sponsors Azo so they get first shot at everything and I, you know, they, they love ridiculous too. So probably

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (44m 24s):

In Oh about that.

Sean P. Holman (44m 25s):

Did were you able to hook up with, with our good friend Steven Watson over Offroad Design? Did that, did you guys have a conversation?

Scott Birdsall (44m 33s):

Not yet. No. I’ve been too busy doing the, doing the Bonneville stuff. All. right. He’s listen but I’ll hit you up. I’m, I’m not gonna, I tell him I’m not, I’m not leaving him hanging.

Sean P. Holman (44m 40s):

Well he’ll, he’ll hear you. He listens to the show, but he’s your, he’s your dude that, that guy can get whatever you need to keep that drive train from Augering himself and to a gazillion pieces. He’s he’s your dude.

Scott Birdsall (44m 51s):

Yeah. I need to, I need to hook up with him on, you know, building the front rear axles on it. I’m thinking about like dual 14, corporate 14 bolts front and rear.

Sean P. Holman (44m 59s):

Yep. Atlas all that good

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (45m 0s):

Stuff. And it’s got no front bumper right now. What’s the plan on that to put

Scott Birdsall (45m 4s):

Just a Chrome stock bumper. I like, I like the look of the stock body on those trucks. They look so good. Yeah,

Sean P. Holman (45m 9s):

It’s a, they’re good

Scott Birdsall (45m 10s):

Trucks then I’ll, yeah, I’ll probably cut some holes in the front bumper and you know, put some Baja designs behind it or something. I don’t know. We’ll see. Got it. It’s, but everything I wanna do on this thing, body-wise, super subtle drive train chassis. Ridiculous.

Sean P. Holman (45m 24s):

It’s gonna be one of those trucks that you walk by, you go, oh that’s cool. And then you look at it some more, you’re like, oh crap.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (45m 30s):

So your micro machines, right. Or mini machines, whatever it is that you got the old smoky, your little like hot Wheel star

Scott Birdsall (45m 35s):

Stompers.

Sean P. Holman (45m 36s):

Stompers. Yes. Sers.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (45m 37s):

That’s right. So I need to see this truck as a miniature.

Scott Birdsall (45m 42s):

Oh for sure. I’m, I’m like muscle machines will be all over that. There you go. So you know, one other thing I wanted to do and kind of bring back like a late eighties, early nineties thing is put like multiple shocks on this thing. I wanna see if Bilstein wants to get behind it and put like multiple chrome shocks for rear on

Sean P. Holman (45m 60s):

It. They will. I I know people we we’ll

Scott Birdsall (46m 3s):

I think that would be, we can make that happen. I think that would be rad.

Sean P. Holman (46m 6s):

Yeah, we’ll make that happen for you.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (46m 8s):

Well All right. Congrats in advance on this truck that is gonna be super sick and wait,

Sean P. Holman (46m 12s):

Wait, we forgot. We forgot to ask something. Oh, what do we, how fast does he think this one will go?

Scott Birdsall (46m 18s):

Let’s, let’s think about this. Like how fast do you think you could go in that without dying? Like how stable are 42 inch Swampers?

Sean P. Holman (46m 27s):

About 55?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (46m 28s):

Nah, you can go in there

Sean P. Holman (46m 30s):

You go seventies.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (46m 31s):

You can go faster that don’t you think? Yeah.

Sean P. Holman (46m 32s):

What’s

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (46m 34s):

They won’t frag until probably in the nineties. No, I

Sean P. Holman (46m 35s):

Don’t worry about the tires frag. It’s just the suspension up high lifted. I know Steven Watson’s like, no it’s fine. You didn’t stop. But, but like an old truck like that. I mean, but he says he’s going to get the chassis

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (46m 45s):

All day. Every, everything’s gonna be redone. It’s

Sean P. Holman (46m 47s):

Fine.

Scott Birdsall (46m 48s):

I think with like hydro cy steering and all that stuff. I think I think we could do above 20 in it. Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (46m 54s):

I think so

Sean P. Holman (46m 54s):

Too. Not on those tires, but Okay.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (46m 55s):

Not on those tires. No, not on the ones that are on there. Those are

Sean P. Holman (46m 58s):

Ass. No, you, you would be

Scott Birdsall (46m 60s):

The tires that are on it were probably put on there when I was in high school.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (47m 4s):

What are they, what are these Super swampers, those giant atks or whatever they’re

Sean P. Holman (47m 7s):

Called. Yeah, they’re like super swampers. The TSLs.

Scott Birdsall (47m 9s):

They’re they’re TSLs. Are they Thornbirds? But if you hit them with a hammer? No, they’re just regular TSLs. Okay. Which I think is like one of the most classy looking tires ever for a truck. I. really? Like super swampers. They’re just terrible tires. Yeah,

Sean P. Holman (47m 21s):

I was gonna say it looks wise, they’re awesome actually, you know, driving on them and using them.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (47m 27s):

Yeah, not so much. So they do look the whole night they looked like dry rotted. Like you could just take the the knobs and break ’em off in your

Sean P. Holman (47m 34s):

Hands. Yeah, but do you see that they’re on like a classic weld? Yeah. I I 16.5 or something. I, yeah. Awesome.

Scott Birdsall (47m 39s):

Yeah. Well they are on 16 fives. I knew

Sean P. Holman (47m 42s):

It.

Scott Birdsall (47m 43s):

Yeah.

Sean P. Holman (47m 44s):

You’d see, see by the, the that the bead and the Wheel lip. It’s like a Well

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (47m 48s):

He’s got a funky front rear diff cover under there too. I see

Sean P. Holman (47m 51s):

That. No, that’s, that’s a, that’s a classic fit, fit. No, it’s a classic fin aluminum cover. That’s what they look like back then. Gotcha.

Scott Birdsall (47m 58s):

That’s actually what I want to put on it when it’s done too, is

Sean P. Holman (48m 1s):

Yeah, Polish.

Scott Birdsall (48m 2s):

Like everything is gonna be chromed or polished on this thing.

Sean P. Holman (48m 6s):

I Hope you put Pink Shock boots on it.

Scott Birdsall (48m 8s):

I mean No

Sean P. Holman (48m 11s):

Then Rad Wood will never let you in.

Scott Birdsall (48m 13s):

Yeah, I can’t, I can’t do that. I even back in the nineties, I couldn’t do Pink Shock boots.

Sean P. Holman (48m 19s):

I wonder you can find ’em on Amazon. I bet. Yeah.

Scott Birdsall (48m 22s):

No, no, you just, you just ran the Rancho RS 500 thousands or whatever they were called and with the red boots and they eventually turned pink anyways.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (48m 31s):

I feel like that’s a great all female punk band. Pink Shock Boots.

Scott Birdsall (48m 35s):

The Pink Shock boots.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (48m 37s):

No

Sean P. Holman (48m 37s):

I I would go and see them. I I

Scott Birdsall (48m 39s):

Was thinking like Rancho RS five thousands a terrible girl punk. That’s what I was

Sean P. Holman (48m 43s):

Thinking. Horrible dude. We’re the Rancho RS five thousands. Woo. And then like one year later,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (48m 49s):

It ain’t that different than Power Man 5,000.

Sean P. Holman (48m 51s):

The the RS nine thousands came out and they’re like Woo adjustable and rebound only goodnight.

Scott Birdsall (48m 57s):

Did you, did you ever run those things? Yes, I bought some and I could not tell the difference in any of the shock adjustment settings. Did

Sean P. Holman (49m 4s):

You, did you go so as far to have that little air kit where you could adjust them from in the cab, remember they add that added that accessory that replaced the knobs. I was

Scott Birdsall (49m 13s):

Far too poor for that.

Sean P. Holman (49m 15s):

I knew I knew somebody who worked at four Wheel parts and he somehow got a discount and put it in his Suburban and it was like we would just play with it and push the button while he drove and that thing drove. So the suburban 2506 5 non turbo diesel. Just so poorly. It might have been six. Okay. Six two. Sorry. Six two non turbo diesel. It drove so poorly that pushing buttons on your double shocks in the front. Did nothing. Did

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (49m 41s):

Nothing. Yeah. I wonder, back in the day, there was like, I recall all sorts of aftermarket parts that had knobs and buttons that didn’t actually, that weren’t connected to anything. They just

Sean P. Holman (49m 51s):

Like, they just make you feel good collection. Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (49m 52s):

You just literally, it’s a one to 10 and like literally it’s just got a, it’s a screw through the center of the knob, but this, it doesn’t do anything. It just turns, it spins.

Sean P. Holman (50m 0s):

It’s like a fidget spinner or something.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (50m 2s):

Yeah. It’s like the outer bezel on a watch that doesn’t do anything. It just spins around.

Sean P. Holman (50m 6s):

My buddy Ken, who had that old suburban we got, we went and put a billet grill, much like the one that that Scott has on this pile here. I already talked to him. He needs to put the right grill

Scott Birdsall (50m 15s):

In there. We’re putting a stock one on it. Yeah, yeah,

Sean P. Holman (50m 16s):

Yeah, yeah. We talked about that. And then, anyway, so we put a billet grove, we did the RS nine thousands front five thousands rear. And then we put his blue four Wheel parts sticker in the window. And my buddy Adam and I taped up his, the light in the driveway, the motion sensor. And we came back in the middle of the night and we cut up the sticker with razor blades and it’s, it made it say four inch wiener. And then he drove around in his Suburban for like a week with his inch, four inch wiener on it. And the way he found out, ’cause he, you know, you’re sitting in The truck, you see the stick, you’re not reading it right. His dad, I guess they were going to church and was laughing at him and like, maniacally. And he’s like, what are you laughing at?

Sean P. Holman (50m 57s):

And he’s like, ah, you have a four inch wiener. And he is like, what? Like, he’s like, dad, what? Then he points to the sticker and then I think he’s like, you guys are s it’s pretty funny.

Scott Birdsall (51m 6s):

But did he have the Bad Boy club? Sticker

Sean P. Holman (51m 9s):

I. Think everybody had the Bad Boy Club sticker. Was that before or after the Calvin and Hobbes pissing on the other you, I had that too on my Ranger. Yeah. Chevy.

Scott Birdsall (51m 17s):

That was before. Yeah, I think it went, I think the, the timeline went bad. Boy club. No Fear then Calvin and Hobbes.

Sean P. Holman (51m 28s):

I think that’s right. I think, I think, I think your timeline is correct. I just, I remember.

Scott Birdsall (51m 33s):

And then for then Oakley stickers were always like, through that whole era was like everybody had Oakley stickers.

Sean P. Holman (51m 39s):

There, there were some Jimmy’s in there too. Yeah. Yeah.

Scott Birdsall (51m 42s):

Jimmy Z. Yeah. Yeah.

Sean P. Holman (51m 43s):

Memory lane. I’m going back. ’cause I, remember we had a, we, we slept over at our buddy’s house. And so I think his dad was outta town. And so we had put Nerf bars on the Suburban. And so there were a bunch of kids we pulled into his neighborhood and he was next to, you know where the Edison corridor is, where that Long Park is with the big high Edison power? No towers. Okay. Anyway, there’s a high, high voltage power lines and there’s a park under it and there’s houses on either side. And we pulled into his neighborhood and he backed up to it. And there were these like eighth graders that were toilet papering a house. So we chased them in the Suburban. We got out on the Smitty, built Nerf Nerf steps, like CIA agents or something. And we chased ’em. They all ran through the park and like, they’d peel, one would peel off at a time like a rabbit.

Sean P. Holman (52m 26s):

And we chase them through the park and we’re like, you know, he’s driving and we’re grabbing ’em by their collar and pushing ’em. And that you could have run ’em over. Oh, I, I we’re dumb. You know, we were like 16, what do you expect from us? And anyway, I think he did donuts in the park and all that stuff. So the, the next morning we hear on the front door and you know, we’re all sleeping in ’cause his dad’s not home. It’s the weekend. Like, who cares? Hey, somebody’s at your door. So anyway, he goes to the door and it says Neighbor Bob down the street. And Bob’s like, Hey, your dad home. He’s like, oh no, he is outta town. He goes, oh, okay. He goes, somebody really tore up the park last night with, with their car or truck or something.

Sean P. Holman (53m 6s):

He’s like, oh, that, that, that’s horrible. That sucks. He goes, yeah, you have any idea? Who did? He goes, nah, I I don’t know. And we’re all sitting there like, right. And so he, he talks to Bob and Bob goes back to his house. And so about four hours later we go for the Taco Bell run and we walk out and the entire side of his truck covered in grass clippings and there’s a, a trail leaving from leaving from the park four houses down into his driveway. And of course there is. And we’re like, oh, I, I. Wonder if he knew of, of course he knew.

Scott Birdsall (53m 36s):

Back to how that started. Should I do Chrome Smitty belt? Yes. Nerf bars on this thing? Yes.

Sean P. Holman (53m 41s):

Yeah,

Scott Birdsall (53m 42s):

Absolutely. I mean, is that, is that something we need to do?

Sean P. Holman (53m 44s):

I I would say yes. I mean, if you’re gonna go Chrome Grill, polished wheels, polished diff covers, and you’re gonna go with that full like eighties, late eighties, early nineties build vibe, then the answer is yes.

Scott Birdsall (53m 56s):

All. right. It’s done. Then I’m gonna gonna get it. I wonder if Smitty Belt still makes those. I believe

Sean P. Holman (53m 60s):

Westin does. If Smitty built doesn’t, but if not, you can make your own make, yeah. Similar. Yeah. Yeah. You’re a master fabricator.

Scott Birdsall (54m 7s):

Well, I mean I could, but I’d rather

Sean P. Holman (54m 9s):

Just buy it. Why? Why would you even buy the Chinese ones for a hundred bucks? Alright, Scott, congrats on the K 10 and the future success of being the world record holder for the fastest mid-sized truck in the three liter class.

Scott Birdsall (54m 22s):

Fingers crossed.

Sean P. Holman (54m 23s):

Yep. All. right. Well we, we will route you on remotely unless Lightning decides he wants to come. I would love to go. I. Don’t think I I can I actually do. He wouldn’t. I would. I Well he wouldn’t let me sleep in it. Maybe I’d sleep under it. Or in a tent adjacent. Well, if it’s a I big enough, it’s a bus chassis. They have those compartments underneath for the, like the coolers and baggage. You put a sleeping bag in there, I I might consider it. It’d be weird

Scott Birdsall (54m 46s):

For him. I’m totally down to let you do that. It’d

Sean P. Holman (54m 48s):

Be weird to for him to hear that tapping underneath all night. but No tapping. Oh yeah, no, I’d be hearing him walk around all night. All. right. Well that was, it’s a weird way to end this interview. Oh, is that how Randy? Yeah,

Scott Birdsall (55m 1s):

That’s perfect

Sean P. Holman (55m 3s):

All. right. Hey,

Scott Birdsall (55m 4s):

Thanks for having me on guys.

Sean P. Holman (55m 5s):

Thanks for being one of our favorite truck people. Yeah. And racers who races or something like that and stuff. Yeah. And stuff. All. right. Thanks for being you. Bye Scott.

Scott Birdsall (55m 15s):

See you guys.

Sean P. Holman (55m 16s):

All. right. Bye. Hey, you know what’s up Holman chicken butt five star hotline.

10 (55m 26s):

Oh, come on And be part of the show called the Five Star Hotline. 6 5 7 2 0 5 6 1 0 5. It’s the five star hotline Hotline.

Sean P. Holman (55m 41s):

Sean P. Holman (57m 43s):

I know. Didn’t Johnny say something about that? Oh

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (57m 45s):

Yeah, it was Johnny I. Think it was Johnny. That’s crazy. I said that

Sean P. Holman (57m 47s):

Guy hate him. Don’t hate me. Yeah. Trash. If you gotta do it, it for health, I get it.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (57m 50s):

The stuff at the bottom of the trash can after everything’s

Sean P. Holman (57m 52s):

Leaked out, listen, when you gotta take medicine ’cause something’s up, like yeah, you, you take it. You don’t wanna but do it so you know.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (57m 58s):

Nah, listen, listen. I. I. If you can’t have it because you’re diabetic, okay? Yes. Then obviously Diet Dr. Pepper has got Did a pass. Yeah, you got for sure. You get a pass. Five star.

But thank you guys for the information that’s gonna be greatly appreciated. It is the I five. It’s an automatic, it does have the package. I think it’s a oh five or oh six. 14 (59m 1s):

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (59m 1s):

Damn.

Sean P. Holman (59m 2s):

400 miles a day. Day. That would be from here to Phoenix every day. Not back though. You could go back on the even days. Phoenix odd days back to SoCal. Well,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (59m 12s):

He gave us five stars.

Sean P. Holman (59m 13s):

Congratulations. You have earned five stars. I’m glad that we helped out a listener. So, hey Chris, give us a shot back after you get your torsion bar lift and your 51 hundreds and your 30 fives, all that stuff. I’d be really curious to see if our advice to you paid off or if you hate us and hate your track after modifying. I don’t think he’s gonna hate us. I, well let’s find out

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (59m 33s):

I mean it’s possible.

11 (59m 35s):

Lightning and Holman. My name’s Troy Brick. I’ve sent you a few emails before, but I’m traveling today and yesterday I saw a YouTube video about a Caterpillar truck. Is it BS or is it real? And then the follow up question is, do you know if it has a system to mount the parameters? Thank you very much. Love you guys. Five Stars

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 0m 2s):

All, right? Master

15 (1h 0m 3s):

Monitor, key engine parameters,

12 (1h 0m 6s):

Five star review, five star.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 0m 9s):

I love how we fit that in at the

Sean P. Holman (1h 0m 10s):

End. Yeah, that was nice. Doesn’t have a system to mount meters. Yeah, it’s one of those I think like rendering projects that somebody turned into a YouTube video for clicks. So I’m gonna go ahead and say that. Not real, that does not exist.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 0m 23s):

That would be cool

Sean P. Holman (1h 0m 24s):

Though. I mean, you could Google 25 Caterpillar truck, pickup truck and all sorts of stuff like this. One thing is like the 2025 Caterpillar pickup truck hasn’t been released yet, but it’s generating buzz. Yeah, no kidding. ’cause you’re, it’s not real. Yeah, that’s why. Anyway, I would say that’s a, that’s, that’s a no-Go

11 (1h 0m 41s):

Lightning and Holman Troy Brick again. I just called this weekend about the Caterpillar pickup, but was listening to the latest episode with the email that said, Hey, you should have your five minute talk about trucks. I think that

Sean P. Holman (1h 0m 58s):

And I have a wife or lifetime, not just five minutes.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 1m 3s):

No, he’s, he wants what?

Sean P. Holman (1h 1m 5s):

He said that we should have our five minute wife talk about trucks. Oh, your

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 1m 8s):

Five minute wife. And I’m like, no, no,

Sean P. Holman (1h 1m 10s):

No. She might get offended by that. She’s yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 1m 12s):

Five minute wife

Sean P. Holman (1h 1m 13s):

Or in for the long haul.

11 (1h 1m 14s):

That would be great. But I also would like to hear from her mouth Lightning’s wife’s opinions on the Ballards. That would be extremely entertaining. So five stars and Yeah. Buddy

12 (1h 1m 31s):

Star review five stars.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 1m 35s):

Yeah, buddy.

Sean P. Holman (1h 1m 38s):

Funny. You should bring that up, Troy, because I, you

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 1m 42s):

Spoke to my wife.

Sean P. Holman (1h 1m 43s):

I didn’t record her though. And now I have I I have a mission to,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 1m 49s):

She still feels the same as she did when you were at my house. Perfect.

Sean P. Holman (1h 1m 52s):

I will record her. I will call her in the middle of the day when she’s in the middle of something and grumpy that I’m annoying her. And then I’m gonna let her unload on you. We

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 2s):

Could call right now. Should we? She’s in a super, just a bad mood right

Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 6s):

Now. Call her. Let’s do it. I dare you. I I’m serious.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 8s):

I dare you in a nasty mood. Double,

Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 9s):

Double dog. Dare you. Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 11s):

Are you

Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 11s):

Sure? Trouble dog. Dare you.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 15s):

You sure you wanna do this?

Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 18s):

I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life. I do you know what I’m Googling right now? Mm. What comes after Triple Dog? Dare. Apparently, according to the internet, I quadruple dog dare you is the next thing. But then what, what goes after that?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 37s):

Quintuplet.

Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 38s):

Quora does say Triple Dog Dare is the superlative Dare a triple dog Dare can only be used to counter a double dog. Dare. If you guys know what comes after a quadruple dog dare.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 48s):

You’re not gonna query our audience that question. Are you really?

Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 51s):

Structure Show podcast at gmail dot com. Mm.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 53s):

Okay, let’s see. This is gonna be ugly. Here we go.

16 (1h 3m 6s):

Hello,

Sean P. Holman (1h 3m 7s):

Brandy Tillis. This is Lightning and Holman from The. Truck. Show. Podcast I. know if you’re familiar with our little dog and pony show.

16 (1h 3m 15s):

Oh no

Sean P. Holman (1h 3m 17s):

All. right? So this is the thing is I may have spilled the beans to our listeners that you were not happy about the Ballards and we’ve had multiple phone calls and emails now demanding that we ask you how you feel.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 3m 31s):

We literally just played a voice. No they did not. Yes. All. right. Hold on a second. Let’s see if we can play this to her. Let’s, can you hear this call

11 (1h 3m 40s):

Lightning and Holman?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 3m 41s):

Can you hear when I play that?

16 (1h 3m 43s):

Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 3m 43s):

All right here. Listen.

11 (1h 3m 44s):

Good Rick. Again, I just called this weekend about the Caterpillar pickup, but was listening to the latest episode with the email that said, Hey, you should have your five minute wife talk about trucks. I think that that would be great. But I also would like to hear from her mouth Lightning’s wife’s opinions on the Ballards. I think that that would be extremely entertaining.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 4m 12s):

So that was from a listener. Wanted to find out what I I may have. Brandy Lightning’s wife.

Sean P. Holman (1h 4m 17s):

Yeah. I may have said you were very unhappy. Yeah. With our friend Jay Lightning Till is here and they wanna know more. Okay. How do you feel about the bollards in your driveway?

16 (1h 4m 29s):

I have so many emotions. I don’t even know where to begin.

Sean P. Holman (1h 4m 33s):

How about begin with the the anger

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 4m 35s):

One? No, no. I mean we’re, we’re, we’re trying to figure out,

16 (1h 4m 38s):

Well first of all, I understand, but I don’t, I just feel like why do we need so many anti-theft devices in the driveway for one vehicle?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 4m 53s):

I mean, you just told me in a text before we started this episode that there was a Toyota fore runner that was broken into and another vehicle, somebody’s dog sitter down the street had their car stolen on our block. So it doesn’t make me feel more comfortable that vehicles keep being broken into on our block.

Sean P. Holman (1h 5m 10s):

You realize you installed four foot posts and not a walled garden. Right.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 5m 16s):

I know that. Okay,

Sean P. Holman (1h 5m 17s):

Just checking.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 5m 18s):

I I, I get that. It’s All just a deterrent.

Sean P. Holman (1h 5m 21s):

All. right. Brandi? I asked our man Lightning here if he thought you would be putting the Ballards up and down daily to go in and out of the driveway.

16 (1h 5m 32s):

No. Okay, so now I’m banning the driveway. I’m no longer parking the portion in the driveway. I think it takes too much time to have to like, go out to my car, get a key, unlock it, pull it down, put the car backwards, go back over, pull the baller up, put the key in and lock it.

Sean P. Holman (1h 5m 53s):

What is your not gonna

16 (1h 5m 54s):

Happen? I’m not gonna do

Sean P. Holman (1h 5m 55s):

It. What is he feeling on the way your house looks with the ballers extended?

16 (1h 5m 59s):

Well so far this truck is still not back. I don’t even know where it is. Why do we even have this? It,

Sean P. Holman (1h 6m 4s):

Secondly it got stolen. He’s afraid to tell you

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 6m 5s):

Why we, no, it didn’t get stolen.

16 (1h 6m 9s):

That would probably be better.

Sean P. Holman (1h 6m 11s):

Well, he still have ballers.

16 (1h 6m 12s):

He doesn’t drive it anyway, so, you know, it just sits here. I’m beside myself. I just dunno how many anti, like I said, I, I have so many feelings.

Sean P. Holman (1h 6m 22s):

How many neighbors contacted you either personally via phone or text or email? Oh my god.

16 (1h 6m 27s):

They stopped. The car stopped and asked me what’s going on. They stopped me when I walk around the blog. Hey, what’s, what are you guys doing over there? What, what’s the, the big machine in the front thing? and

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 6m 38s):

I’m like, I mean people are

16 (1h 6m 39s):

Noy. Like, oh, don’t even get me started. Don, they, they also ask, you know, you could have spent money elsewhere like maybe redoing your bathroom or a vacation or, yeah,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 6m 54s):

I’m not happy about spending this money. I think everyone should know that by now. But I also don’t want to give in and be forced to sell my truck because some, a-hole wants it just as bad as I do. So like Don don’t know It’s awful. and I think I think Brandy understands

16 (1h 7m 9s):

That, but well why even a truck? That’s, but I don’t understand why having a truck that’s, you know, such a hot commodity. Why even have one just sell it. You know how much profit we would make off that

Sean P. Holman (1h 7m 19s):

I

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 7m 19s):

I, Don truck

Sean P. Holman (1h 7m 20s):

Right now. I know All, right? Brandy? I also know that he put a hundred dollars deposit down on a cyber truck. So pick your poison. Uhuh.

16 (1h 7m 28s):

Uhuh. This is where I draw the line. Okay, listen. No more. No more. I’m done, I’m done. I’m gonna move. I’m out. I’m gonna move somewhere else. I can’t do this anymore. This is insane. This is All. just about a truck. Did he tell you about the infrared machine that when you cross the line it screams in the bedroom? Yeah, in the bedroom. Not in the house. In the bedroom. That screams warning trespasser. Trespasser warning. Now in all

Sean P. Holman (1h 7m 55s):

Fairness,

16 (1h 7m 55s):

When your dad

Sean P. Holman (1h 7m 56s):

Asleep, in all fairness, when you and I are having dinner together with, with Rich and, and and Jay and everything Rich,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 8m 2s):

Hold away the construction. Yeah.

Sean P. Holman (1h 8m 4s):

I did look at you and said to you these exact words. You do know who you married and you agreed.

16 (1h 8m 11s):

Yeah.

Sean P. Holman (1h 8m 13s):

You’ve

16 (1h 8m 13s):

Taken it to the next level. This is like, this is like I, Don. Don’t know. This is just getting outta control. This is outta control.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 8m 21s):

I think I’m done. You

16 (1h 8m 22s):

You know what? I just think he should sleep in his truck because then he has all control. Just sleep in there.

Sean P. Holman (1h 8m 28s):

We can probably get you a go fast camper with a nice little pop-up by tent

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 8m 31s):

I. I mean. Oh

16 (1h 8m 32s):

Perfect. I

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 8m 34s):

I. I don’t really want to sleep in then I’d have to run it all night because the AC would have to be on ’cause it’s hot as balls right now. Just sounds bad. I don’t wanna sleep. I I. Have a nice bed.

16 (1h 8m 45s):

Are you gonna post the pictures of what it looks like in the front of the house?

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 8m 48s):

Yes. I’ve shot a video.

16 (1h 8m 49s):

Yeah. Well our, the value of our house just went down. If somebody drives by, it’s like when you’re driving down the, the, the street and you see people with bars on their windows. Totally disagree. I feel like it’s the same feeling. No, I totally disagree. These are attracted then they’re go Why? It looks like a parking garage. It’s not pretty.

Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 8s):

Oh, that gives me an idea. What we should build a kiosk for the parking attendant that you’re gonna hire 24 7. No, that’s

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 9m 18s):

Brandon Brand’s new job. She’s collecting money from me every time I go in and out.

Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 23s):

Oh

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 9m 23s):

My God. I told you this is gonna go badly for me. I warned him. I said there’s No way that this phone call’s gonna go. Well yeah,

Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 28s):

No, I That’s why we did it. Yeah. That’s why I pushed for it. I I I. Quadruple dog dared him. I said call your wife. Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 9m 35s):

People

Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 35s):

Need to know

16 (1h 9m 36s):

You caught me on the wrong night though. Yeah.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 9m 38s):

I told you she was, she’s she

Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 40s):

Was a little soured tonight. Lucky for, lucky for you. I’ve I’ve got him for a little while to give you a break.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 9m 46s):

She’ll be fast asleep when I get home or pretending to be one of the two

16 (1h 9m 50s):

I. Mean Yeah. All right

Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 54s):

Everyone.

16 (1h 9m 54s):

I’m sorry. Brand. Sorry. I’m just not as entertaining as Oh no, I normally is.

Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 59s):

No, you, you you should call massively entertaining. Trust me. No,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 10m 2s):

This is what they wanted to hear.

Sean P. Holman (1h 10m 4s):

I feel like there should be a red carpet along the fence leading to your front door. So when your wife gets out of the car, she feels like she’s in a luxurious valet type experience or a red carpet walk. And those Ballards are nice enough where you could put stanchion ropes between them, like red velvet ropes and just tell her she’s coming home to a luxury Hollywood experience every night.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 10m 25s):

She wouldn’t buy it. She would see right through it.

Sean P. Holman (1h 10m 28s):

Well that’s, that’s,

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 10m 30s):

No one’s happy with my decision. No one. It’s awful. Except for me and Holman today. Okay. Today is God as my witness some a-hole. Sent me another video from A TRX in Ontario, California from the, he had a black view camera. I think that’s a brand, right? Black View. Yeah,

Sean P. Holman (1h 10m 51s):

That’s what I have on mine. Okay, so

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 10m 52s):

He had the black view camera. Yep. And he has the guy breaking in, stretching out across the car, like putting his, you can literally see his Android phone with the dongle on it connecting. And he’s talking to the guy outside. Is it connected? Is it connected? Why is it connected? The guy had a OLA device on there, right? Like I do. Is it connected? And he’s inside busted window and all that stuff. Couldn’t get it connected. Hops out and they take off in And by the way, in a, in a track hawk of course they drive away. They’re driving a another Hemi. Yep. And this just happened yesterday. I’m like, no, this is awful. I did not ex I did not see this coming when I bought this TRX I I think I could leave a, a Ferrari in my front yard and there’s, it’s less likely to get broken into

Sean P. Holman (1h 11m 36s):

I. Have seen you age from worry from this

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 11m 38s):

Sucks. I don’t wanna talk about it anymore. It’s gonna be like, listen, I don’t be like, this is good for our listeners anymore. I listen like we’ve definitely jumped the shark on this. Go

Sean P. Holman (1h 11m 45s):

Get your cyber truck and nobody will ever wanna steal it.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 11m 48s):

No one will ever, my wife will divorce me. I’m not, that was real hate for that thing. She does not like it. She’s like, it looks like a trash can.

Sean P. Holman (1h 12m 1s):

Well, you know, our, fortunately for us, our truck show podcast listeners, a lot of ’em are married. They understand what it’s like and it is about compromise. Lightning, why don’t you give our audience some marital advice right now. Go.

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 12m 16s):

Don’t be Lightning The

Sean P. Holman (1h 12m 48s):

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 14m 22s):

I’m not a filthy

Sean P. Holman (1h 14m 22s):

Person, I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to a listener. You were talking about Ballards just clearly me. No, it was not you. You’re a filthy person who is greasy and you have dandruff and you’ve got a, your interior’s got that film on it. It’s got the, the fuzz that comes out. It’s just a gross place to be. There’s

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 14m 37s):

No, my truck is clean and

Sean P. Holman (1h 14m 38s):

Inside there’s chili dog blotches on the floor. Listen, no,
