Eaton’s Mobility Group is expanding its aftermarket differential portfolio with a new Eaton ELocker and new Detroit Truetrac differential. The new Detroit Truetrac is a 31-spline differential that will fit the General Motors 11.5-inch rear axle of 2020 and newer 2500HD series (Silverado/Sierra) diesel trucks.
The new ELocker is a 35-spline version designed for 2018 and older Dana 44-equipped Jeep Wrangler JK, TJ, LJ, CJ models. Eaton’s aftermarket team will introduce these new differentials at the SEMA Show, November 5-8, 2024, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. They will be available at Eaton’s U.S. distribution centers in late Q1 2025.
“Eaton’s aftermarket team continues to listen to feedback from our customers and build on our momentum of adding new performance upgrades for popular vehicles in North America. The new 31-spline Truetrac differential is a great upgrade for GM diesel truck owners who do a lot of work or towing with their vehicles,” said Jason Denardo, product manager, Aftermarket, Eaton’s Mobility Group. “And the new 35-spline ELocker for Jeeps with Dana 44 axles provides a significant enhancement for serious off-road enthusiasts seeking to upgrade their standard 30-spline axle shafts for additional strength and durability.”
The new additions to Eaton’s differential portfolio reflect the ongoing commitment to vehicle coverage. Over the past several years, Eaton has introduced 25 new differential models for some of the most popular vehicles among performance enthusiasts.
The Detroit Truetrac is a helical-gear style, limited-slip differential that maximizes wheel traction and enhances driving characteristics. It is maintenance-free, and features smooth, automatic operation in forward and reverse.
The Truetrac differential operates as a standard differential under normal driving conditions, allowing for unobtrusive operation. When a wheel encounters loss of traction or the terrain changes, the helical-shaped gears mesh with increasing force, transferring torque to the high-traction wheel until wheel spin is slowed or completely stopped. When the vehicle exits the low traction situation, the differential seamlessly resumes normal operation.
The Eaton ELocker is an electronic, selectable differential designed for drivers that need traction on-demand. At the flip of a dash switch, drivers can go from open to 100% locked. A second flip of the switch deactivates the unit to resume normal driving. The ELocker is the most reliable on-demand differential, featuring selectable operation and net-forged gears for added strength.
